iKON is different from the very beginning of their career [MD Interview ①]
[마이데일리=최지예 기자] Group iKON (B.I, KIM JINHWAN, BOBBY, SONG YUNHYEONG, JU-NE, KIM DONGHYUK, and JUNG CHANWOO) is different from the very beginning of their career.
On November 16 in the afternoon, iKON had an interview about the release of their double digital single at a café located in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
In the interview, iKON talked about the process of their debut as iKON after fierce competition in two survival audition shows. iKON first lost an opportunity for debut when they were beaten by WINNER in cable channel Mnet’s survival audition program “WIN”. At that time, WINNER faced crisis of being disbanded. BOBBY said, “We did our best as we believed that we could debut all together. It was not certain, but we actually believed so. I thought it should be our members all together and I didn’t want to lose any one of the members.” “So, we worked harder to show a better harmony and appeal to president YANG HYUN SUK that we can create this kind of perfect harmony together.”, added he.
iKON always shows humble attitude and expresses their gratitude for the big popularity they are enjoying, as they debuted after lots of difficulties. They said, “We’re so flattered that so many people like us. For that, we feel a big gratituderather than feeling satisfied.” They went on to say, “Our past experiences helped us a lot. Every good thing that happens to us makes us feel grateful, rather than satisfied, making us have bigger goals. It is still premature for us to feel satisfied. Rather, it is time for us to get a bigger momentum and keep moving forward.”
iKON was also receptive to the public’s criticism. BOBBY talked about harsh comments on the Internet, “I actually don’t hate those harsh comments on me, as I regard them as feedback on my deficiencies. I really don’t hate them. Those feedbacks are an important opportunity for me to frankly think about my advantages and disadvantages, so I take those comments seriously.” JINHWAN said, “I try not to read those unfavorable comments on the Internet, rather, I listen to comments from people I know. I have bigger trust for those people, rather than for the Internet.” JU-NE said, “I’m a little bit different. Rather than favorable comments, it is those harsh comments that actually strike home for me, even though they are somewhat exaggerated sometimes. The more I read those harsh comments, the more I get resolved, and I can think ‘maybe this part of me could look not that good to other people’. I think unfavorable comments on the Internet help me more than nice ones do.”
iKON members are young boys and young boys in that age are usually very much interest in girls. However, iKON members said, “Since we’re still a rookie, there is a “tacit ban” on having relationship. We hear about things that we have to do and things that we must not do sometimes, but even if no one tells us what to do or not, we’re not doing things that we shouldn’t do.”
iKON’s new song “APOLOGY” that is drawing enormous popularity is a slow R&B song which expresses a man’s sorrow and pain of breaking up with his lover. “ANTHEM”, the sub-title track for iKON’s new double digital single, is an original hip-hop song of B.I and BOBBY’s unit team.
The new double digital single of iKON was released on November 16 at 0 o’clock.
