[MD Interview] “tvN’s “Actor School” Is Helping Me Grow as an Actor,” Says NAM TAEHYUN
[마이데일리=전원 기자] NAM TAEHYUN, a member of YG’s boy group WINNER, openly spoke about his experience of acting.
He recently had an interview at a café in Seoul about WINNER’s mini-album “EXIT: E.” NAM talked about the group’s album and how he feels about appearing in “Actor School,” a program aired on tvN.
“For starters, “Actor School” is not just an entertainment program,” said NAM. “Mr. Park Shin Yang really loves what he does. In the first episode, he said, ‘Everyone here knows that we have cameras in front of us. But we’re not acting for the camera. We’re here to learn about acting, not to have an acting show.’ Everyone who appears in the program – there’s a comedian and those in many other different professions – has the same goal. We are eager to understand what acting really is all about. We rarely laugh while shooting the program. We all are really serious.”
In fact, “Actor School” is being shot in harsh conditions. The studio is located in a dilapidated school building in a cold, remote town. And Mr. Park, a famous Korean actor, is tough on his students, many of whom are having a difficult time in the program.
“But there’s one thing I’d like to say,” said NAM, “which is that I can really feel that I have made progress after shooting the program. I think I have grown up a lot as an actor. To be honest, it’s really tough. I once even said ‘Help me’ during the shooting. So it’s mentally demanding, but I really learn a lot. I’m grateful to be given an opportunity to take part in this program, because it helps me reflect upon myself and pushes me to go further. I don’t wear any make-up or do my hair. And I only wear a school uniform or track suits. No manager, no warm water. What you see in the program is all real, and you’ll see how much hardship a person can be made to bear.”
NAM TAEHYUN acknowledged that he still has a long way to go as an actor and he “deserves the criticisms” he got. And he is determined to take this opportunity seriously and improve his acting skills, so that there won’t be any controversies over his acting in the future.
Meanwhile, WINNER has made a comeback since their debut album “2014 S/S” was released a year and five months ago. With their latest album “EXIT: E” a start, they are launching a year-long project “EXIT MOVEMENT,” during which they are planning to hold a concert and appear in other entertainment programs.
