iKON said, “Our driving force? YANG HYUN SUK, family, and members” [MD Interview ②]
[마이데일리=최지예 기자] What is the driving force that keeps group iKON (B.I, KIM JINHWAN, BOBBY, SONG YUNHYEONG, JU-NE, KIM DONGHYUK, and JUNG CHANWOO) moving forward?
On November 16 in the afternoon, iKON had an interview about the release of their double digital single, at a café located in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
iKON have gone through many difficulties before their debut, which gave them a nickname of “the icon of hardship”. They lost the opportunity for debut when they were beaten by WINNER in cable channel Mnet’s survival audition show “WIN”. Then, another opportunity for debut came, but that was also in the form of survival audition. iKON was formed literally by hardships and difficulties, but they never stopped.
The one who built the team iKON in such a way was YG Entertainment’s president YANG HYUN SUK. When jokingly asked about “if there was any time when you hated YANG”, iKON members smiled and said “Never”. B.I said, “Indeed, YANG sometimes makes us feel a heavy burden, but I believe that comes from his interest in us. I felt that he cares much about us, so I thought I have to live up to his expectations as much as I can. I guess YANG has been the driving force for us to write good songs, concentrate on our practice, and work harder.”
Other than YANG, iKON members’ families and the members themselves are also the driving force for them. BOBBY said like a grown-up, “My parents worked so hard for me, so I have to be a good son.” SONG YUNHYEONG said, “When the members are together, something fun and new comes out. It’s so much fun when we’re together. We chat and play jokes, and something begins from that.” B.I also said, “Well, the other members may have some special driving force, but for me, that is my family and the other members. We rely on each other and get inspired by each other, too.”
For iKON, YG president YANG HYUN SUK, their families, and the members are the driving force for them to work harder, move forward, and have bigger dreams. iKON who took the very first step of their career now keep moving forward, getting great momentum from the love and support from those driving forces.
iKON’s new song “APOLOGY” that is drawing enormous popularity upon its release is a slow R&B song which expresses a man’s sorrow and pain of breaking up with his lover. “ANTHEM”, the sub-title track for iKON’s new double digital single, is an original hip-hop song of B.I and BOBBY’s unit team.
The new double digital single of iKON was released on November 16 at 0 o’clock.
