“Our Dreams Have Come True”..BLACKPINK Becomes First Korean Headliner To Take the Stage of ‘Coachella’
[OSEN=선미경 기자] K-pop sensation BLACKPINK has conquered Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival as the first-ever Korean headliner, with their flawless performance and overwhelming popularity drawing massive cheers.
On April 15th (local time), BLACKPINK took the stage as headliner at Coachella, America’s largest music festival, held in California. As the first K-pop artist to headline the event, which attracts 300,000 attendees annually, BLACKPINK showcased their extraordinary presence. The concert was live-streamed on their official YouTube channel.
The group dazzled the stage with a lineup of hits, including ‘Pink Venom,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘How You Like That,’ ‘Pretty Savage,’ ‘Whistle,’ ‘BOOMBAYAH,’ ‘Lovesick Girls,’ ‘Playing With Fire,’ ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU,’ and ‘Forever Young.
From the moment BLACKPINK appeared with ‘Pink Venom,’ the audience showered them with enthusiastic support. Their powerful performance filled the stage, with synchronized dance moves that added intensity. BLACKPINK’s performance connected effortlessly with the audience, embodying a fierce and confident girl crush vibe.
JENNIE shared, “I’m happy to be back here after four years. Our dreams have come true.” ROSÉ added, “We were invited to Coachella four years ago, and now we’re standing here as headliners at one of the world’s most beloved music festivals. Our dreams have come true.”
JENNIE, JISOO, ROSÉ, and LISA each performed solo stages as well, totaling nearly 20 songs. JISOO performed her debut solo track ‘FLOWER,’ while ROSÉ and LISA captivated with their solo songs ‘GONE’ and ‘MONEY,’ respectively. JENNIE earned applause with her unreleased solo song, ‘You and Me.’
BLACKPINK first performed at Coachella in 2019, making history as the first K-pop girl group to do so. Four years later, they returned as headliners, solidifying their global status. They were even featured in Coachella’s 20th-anniversary documentary and listed as one of the festival’s legendary performances.
Their headliner status at Coachella demonstrated BLACKPINK’s global presence, with passionate cheers from the audience further confirming their popularity. Official BLACKPINK lightsticks and Korean flags were spotted throughout the crowd, garnering attention.
BLACKPINK will once again take the stage as headliners on April 22nd, experiencing the heat of Coachella one more time. In July, they will make history as the first K-pop artist to headline the UK’s largest music festival, “Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival.” Moreover, they will continue with their world tour, adding stadium shows in New Jersey, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and LA, starting from August 12th.
