BLACKPINK’s Coachella Performance to be Broadcast Worldwide, Group Stands on Top of the World
[TVREPORT=유비취 기자] BLACKPINK’s appearance at North America’s largest music festival, ‘Coachella,’ will be broadcast worldwide.
On the 3rd, the U.S. ‘Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’ (hereinafter ‘Coachella’) announced that the event, held from April 14th to 23rd, would be broadcast globally via social networking services. As a result, ‘Coachella’ will be streamed live for the first time through six social networking platforms.
In April, BLACKPINK will become the first K-pop group to headline ‘Coachella.’ The festival lineup also includes top-tier artists like Bad Bunny, Frank Ocean, and others, making it a star-studded event. This marks the first time in ‘Coachella’ history that there are no headliners that are Caucasian.
One social networking service responsible for the broadcast shared their excitement, saying, “Every year, ‘Coachella’ grows and improves, and we’re thrilled to be a part of that journey. We are committed to making this year’s live broadcast the best yet, as we prepare for one of the most global lineups in ‘Coachella’ history.”
The ‘Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’ is one of North America’s largest music festivals held in California, USA. Past ‘Coachella’ headliners have included global pop stars such as Beyoncé, Eminem, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga. Several K-pop artists, including Epik High, BIGBANG, and aespa, have participated in the festival.
BLACKPINK is the first Asian artist and group to headline ‘Coachella.’ The group is currently hosting the largest-scale world tour by a K-pop girl group, attracting approximately 1.5 million audiences globally. Besides ‘Coachella,’ BLACKPINK is also slated to headline the UK’s ‘Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival’ in July.
On March 31st, BLACKPINK member JISOO successfully launched her solo career with the release of her new song, ‘FLOWER.’
BLACKPINK’s contract with YG Entertainment is set to expire at the end of August. The world is closely watching whether the globally successful BLACKPINK will continue their loyalty to YG Entertainment.
