According to YG Entertainment, the dance performance video for BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ surpassed 900 million views on YouTube as of 11:15 p.m. on the 7th. This is feat reached after a year and 4 months since the video was released on the 6th of July 2020. This is BLACKPINK’s 6th video that surpassed 900 million views.
For a K-POP dance performance video that’s not a M/V to reach 900 million views is not only the first, but the best and highest record. This comes to show how strong BLACKPINK’s popularity is. This video is following the path of the M/V for ‘How You Like That’ which is soon to reach 1 billion-views which is showing a steep rise in recent days.
If this trend continues on, the M/V for ‘How You Like That’ is expected to surpass ‘DDU-DU DDU DU’ M/V’s record of having the largest number of views among K-POP songs with 1.7 billion views. In fact, the M/V and performance video for ‘How You Like That’ has been breaking the records ‘DDU-DU DDU DU’ has reached in terms of reaching such feats in the shortest amount of time.
‘How You Like That’ which has a strong beat that stands out portrays the message of soaring higher no matter what situation awaits. It won the ‘Song of The Summer’ in the 2020 US MTV Video Music Awards, and took the first spot in the ‘Global Top Summer Song’ chosen by YouTube in the same year.
‘How You Like That’ reached remarkable achievements in major charts when it first got released. Not only did it take over all music streaming charts in Korea, but it took the 2nd spot in Spotify’s Global Top 50 Chart, and reached the 1st spot in iTunes chart in a total of 64 countries including the U.S. It reached 20th and 33rd on UK’s Official Single Top 100 and Billboard Hot 100 respectively, making their presence clear globally.
Meanwhile BLACKPINK who has 32 videos on YouTube which reached more than a billion views, have now more than 20.9 billion cumulative views with their subscribers reaching more than 700 million. This is the most out of all male and female artists around the world.
