[INTERVIEW③] WINNER’s Determination, “Will Release 3rd Album Next Year and Aim High”
[일간스포츠=황지영 기자] Group WINNER who’ve had a busy year with 2 comebacks, solo activities, and an overseas tour will continue to stay busy next year. The members promised, “Next year is more important. We’ll continue our activities as long as our bodies permit”.
WINNER’s new single ‘MILLIONS’ will be released on the 19th at 6 PM. YG Entertainment explained, “The exciting guitar riff and clap sounds on the intro are followed up with emotional melodies and a warm sounding chorus. The rhythmical whistle sounds and bouncy kick drums on the chorus create a contrasting vibe from the intro and verse”, and that the song contains WINNER’s unique winter emotions.
WINNER’s member HOONY who’s making his second comeback this year looked back and stated, “I’ve had the busiest year since I ever made debut. Many people were frustrated that WINNER has long vacancies, so we’ve worked hard this year to resolve the thirst of fans”.
MINO who’s had a successful solo activity with ‘FIANCÉ’ stated, “I’ve had the busiest year of my life, grew the most, and changed the most. I’ve been active as a member of WINNER and as a solo artist, performed in concerts and communicated a lot with our fans. It was very fun. I was happy to fill up the year by doing things that I enjoy. That made me feel new emotions”.
JINU stated, “I received makeup a lot this year. We were casted from many different places. I thank the fans. I wasn’t lonely this year. I looked back a lot and thought of myself a lot this year. 2018 was meaningful”.
YOON revealed his satisfaction by stating, “I’ve achieved what I dreamt of this year. Starting with our second album to concerts, tours, and our second comeback this year, I kept all my promises. I personally think we came up with satisfactory outcomes. I’m happy to achieve so many things”.
WINNER will continue to stay active next year with their first-ever North America tour, official 3rd album, and other member solo activities. YOON explained that the people’s expectations are his moving force by stating, “I get motivated on the thought that I should meet up to the expectations occurring from my previous work, and that I should improve. I also want to challenge on new fields without taking a break. I should repay for what I’ve enjoyed until now”.
MINO revealed his expectations by stating, “We’ve usually performed in Japan, but we’ve met our fans in various cities of Asia for the first time this year. We’ve received so much support. Our upcoming North America tour worries me. I’m worried they’ll be very different, but I’m excited at the same time. YOON is studying English very hard. I think we can make good memories”.
YOON added, “We also want to appear on variety programs too. We couldn’t due to our rugged schedules, but we’ll prepare hard so that we can go as planned to make it stick as a regular program of ours in 2019”.
JINU is preparing a solo track in a sweet mood. YOON stated, “It fits well with JINU. It’s a behind story, but the president really likes the song. I think a very beautiful and sweet MV will come out if the release of the song becomes final”. He continued, “I’m also preparing for a solo album, and it will combine WINNER’s vibes and the genre of Folk and Rock which made me start my career in music. I haven’t yet decided on what will be the main current of the album. I’m currently working on it”.
However, WINNER’s 3rd official album will be the first act of WINNER next year. HOONY revealed his determination by stating, “I think next year is important. We won’t hesitate to challenge if it’s necessary. We have many important issues as male idols and would like to create the most memorable year of our lives”.
MINO stated, “We’ll meet the fans and the public through more activities next year. We’re all aiming high musically and variety program-wise. We’ll present something new next year if our strength permits. 2018 was a very meaningful year for me, and I hope next year can be even more meaningful”. JINU considered himself as a happiness preacher while stating, “I hope WINNER stays happy. I hope next year won’t be a lonely year for us”.
YOON showed support on the members by stating, “I hope everything the members talked about become true. As a leader, I hope all members can expand their positions through solo activities. HOONY is also working on his solo album, so I hope all of us can release solo albums next year. I hope JINU can get in a production as an actor as well”.
WINNER will start the ‘MERRY MILLIONS DAY’ comeback countdown through Naver V LIVE an hour prior to the release of the single, at 5 PM. The V LIVE will be decorated with a Christmas concept, while the members of WINNER will gift heartwarming moments for the fans while discussing their upcoming single. The song will be released today at 6 PM through various music platforms, while physical copies will be available for sale from the 24th through YG SELECT and on/offline retailers nationwide.
