JENNIE Tops Billboard’s ‘World Digital Song Sales’ Chart… 5th Achievement Including BLACKPINK

[스포츠경향=하경헌 기자] Girl group BLACKPINK’s member JENNIE dominated the US Billboard Chart as a solo artist.

On November 28, JENNIE’s solo debut single ‘SOLO’ topped the ‘World Digital Song Sales’, which is one of Billboard’s charts. 

BLACKPINK has previously been placed at no. 1 and no. 2 on the same chart with their title songs ‘BOOMBAYAH’ and ‘WHISTLE’ from their debut single , for the first time as a rookie girl group. BLACKPINK later topped the chart again 4 consecutive times with songs ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’, and ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’.

Including JENNIE’s solo single, 5 songs from BLACKPINK topped the ‘World Digital Song Sales’ chart. Furthermore, JENNIE’s single has dominated major Korean daily charts for 15 consecutive days and even topped the weekly chart. She also received 3 trophies on Gaon Chart which serves as K-Pop’s comprehensive music chart, by topping the Digital, Downloads, and Streaming charts. 

The MV for ‘SOLO’ has reached 80 million YouTube views in 13 days since its release, setting the fastest record in Korean female solo artist history. The MV is currently at 83 million views while the choreography video is at 24 million views, which add up to over 100 million views on just two videos related to JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’. 

JENNIE also topped iTunes Charts in 40 different countries as well as setting a milestone by topping the iTunes ‘Worldwide Song Chart’ for the first time as a Korean female solo artist.
