SECHSKIES is sweeping global charts… Drawing exceptional popularity with newly-created past hit songs

[일간스포츠=황지영 기자] SECHSKIES who has come back with a new album after 16 years of absence from the music scene is enjoying great popularity both in and out of Korea.
“Couple”, one of the triple title tracks of SECHSKIES’ new album “2016 Re-ALBUM” released on December 1 at 0 o’clock, took No.1 on the chart of Bugs, NAVER Music, and Soribada as of the same day at 9AM. SECHSKIES also succeeded in coloring music charts with yellow, the color that represents SECHSKIES, with the songs in their new album ranked in top places on a variety of music charts.
Notably, nine songs of SECHSKIES’ new album took ranks from the first to ninth on the chart of music-streaming website Mnet, upon the release of the album. That is an unprecedentedly great record ever set by a remake album. Some remade songs sung not by the songs’ original singers such as the original sound-track of “Reply” drama series enjoyed great popularity. However, it is a very rare case for a remake album sung by its original singer after 16 years of absence to take high ranks on music charts.
SECHSKIES is drawing keen attention not only in Korea but also overseas. As of December 1 at 9AM, “2016 Re-ALBUM” topped iTunes global albums charts of three countries: Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan, enjoying outstanding popularity.
“2016 Re-ALBUM” contains SECHSKIES’ 10 past hit songs rearranged into 2016 versions, including, “Couple”, “Chivalry”, and “Love” which are the triple title tracks of the album, as well as “Com’ Back”, “Hunch”, “Come to Me Baby”, “Reckless Love”, “Road Fighter”, “Hakwon Byeolgok”, and “To You who I Love”. It also has SECHSKIES’ new song “THREE WORDS” released in September this year, as a bonus track.
In the meantime, SECHSKIES appeared in MBC’s “Radio Star” show aired on November 30 to boast their wit and sense of humor and to unveil the performances of “Couple and “Love” for the first time. On December 1 at 10PM, “SECHSKIES’ Re-motecon” will be live-broadcasted on NAVER V-APP.
