BABYMONSTER, the long-awaited ‘end of mystique’… YG’s TREASURE BOX has been opened
[JTBC=김선우 기자] A welcome “end of mystique.” BABYMONSTER is taking a step closer to their fans.
YANG HYUN SUK, executive producer of YG, announced YG Entertainment’s (hereafter YG) plans
for the second half of the year through the company’s YouTube channel on the 18th.
TREASURE, celebrating their 5th anniversary, will return with their 3rd mini album on September 1. BLACKPINK will also release a full group album in November.
BABYMONSTER, the ‘youngest daughter of YG,’ will also continue their unstoppable activities to solidify their status as a top-tier group. The agency YG is fully backing them. BABYMONSTER will
make a comeback on October 10 with a mini album, featuring four new songs. YANG HYUN SUK not only revealed the title track name “WE GO UP,” but also shared that about 90% of the songs planned for next year have already been completed.
Originally scheduled for release on October 1, the plan was revised in consideration of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday and Korean Chuseok holiday in October. YANG HYUN SUK expressed high
hopes for BABYMONSTER’s future. He said, “Within just a year of their debut, BABYMONSTER went on a tour in the Americas and performed to packed audiences. As a producer, it is my aspiration that in three years they will become an artist performing in stadiums.”
Now in their second year, BABYMONSTER is steadily growing. Their greatest weapon is, without a doubt, their talent. That’s what enabled them to launch a world tour so early. BABYMONSTER kicked off their first world tour with a concert in Seoul this January. After performing in Japan and Thailand, they’re continuing their tour through the Americas until September. Even from their debut, BABYMONSTER was a “fully formed rookie,” and they have proven themselves through the tour with a performance level that surpasses that of a new artist. Not only AHYEON but also RUKA, PHARITA, ASA, RAMI, RORA, and CHIQUITA have each captivated fans with their individual charms and talents. It is said that as the scale and number of performances increased, the members’ skills also improved significantly.
Their activities are not limited to solo concerts. Their presence in broadcast media is steadily growing. Unlike the mystique approach they chose at debut, they are now increasingly engaging with fans and the public, and the response has been very positive. In July, ASA and AHYEON appeared on SBS’s “Running Man” and revealed unexpected charms. Riding this momentum, YG Entertainment is also planning to release BABYMONSTER’s first original content.
Their performance activity scope has also expanded. On July 27, BABYMONSTER performed on the SBS Gayo Daejeon “NOL Festival” stage, impressing viewers with live performances of “DRIP,” “HOT SAUCE,” and “SHEESH.” They were also invited to the large-scale Japanese music festival “Summer Sonic” for two consecutive years, proving their global influence.
As they expand from fan-only events to more public-facing activities, fans are welcoming the change. Fans expressed their hopes, saying, “I hope everyone gets to know BABYMONSTER’s charm,”
“They’re like a brilliant piece of art,” “They put on what a real stage is supposed to look like,” “YG’s youngest daughter is on a whole different level,” and “They have both visuals and skills. One day
they’ll light up Coachella.” Other netizens also commented, “They’re really good at live performances,” and “They’re a team with a bright future.”
