BLACKPINK Tops Global YouTube Song Chart for 6 Consecutive Weeks…Popularity Continues On
[OSEN=지민경 기자] BLACKPINK has been topping the Global YouTube Song Top 100 Chart for 6 consecutive weeks.
According to the recent chart released by YouTube on the 2nd (2022.09.23~2022.09.29), BLACKPINK took the first spot on YouTube’s Song Top 100 Chart following last week as well. They’re basically topping the chart for 6 consecutive weeks, continuing on the popularity trend of ‘Pink Venom’.
Their strong influence can also be seen from the category of the ‘Most viewed YouTube Video of the World’, not only in the song chart. Their title-song ‘Shut Down’ and pre-release single ‘Pink Venom’ took both the first and second spot, showing how much love they’re receiving from global fans.
Continuing on this popularity phenomenon, the number of subscribers on their YouTube channel is also increasing steeply. On September 5th, their subscribers reached 80 million subscribers for the first time as an artist around the world, and has currently more than 82 million subscribers. They have 34 clips that have hundreds of millions of views, and their cumulative views on YouTube adds up to 27 billion cumulative views, basically showing how they’re the top in the field.
The group’s influence on global charts, not just YouTube, is extraordinary too. BLACKPINK took the first place on U.S. Billboard’s 200 and UK’s Official Album Chart with their 2nd full album ‘BORN PINK’. Not only is the group the only Asian female artist to take the top spot on both major charts in the world, but this comes in 21 years since Destiny’s Child in 2001, looking at it from a global music market scale.
Their title-song ‘Shut Down’ also achieved a meaningful record by reaching 25th of Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart. Their pre-release single ‘Pink Venom’ which reached a new record as a K-POP girl group’s single song by entering the chart as 22nd on the week it was released, further reached 53rd, 67th, and 74th on the chart, and then climbed back up to 57th, maintaining a high record for 5 consecutive weeks, signaling a ‘popularity long-run’ globally.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will kick off their ‘BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK]’ on the 15th and 16th at Seoul Olympic Park KSPO DOME. They plan on holding 1.5 million people, the most as a K-POP girl group, by touring North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
