BLACKPINK’s ‘Pink Venom’ M/V Reaches 200 million Views on YouTube…Verge of Hitting 80 million YouTube Subscribers
[문화일보=박세희 기자] The music video for ‘Pink Venom’, the pre-release single from BLACKPINK’s second full-album, surpassed 200 million views on YouTube.
According to YG Entertainment on the 27th, BLACKPINK’s ‘Pink Venom’ M/V exceeded 200 million YouTube views as of 2:11 AM this day. The feat comes in about 7 days and 13 hours since it was released at 1 PM on the 19th, and also the 2nd fastest record since ‘How You Like That’, another mega-hit song by BLACKPINK. ‘How You Like That’ was the shortest M/V clip among K-pop girl groups to reach 200 million views with 7 days and 46 minutes.
The number of subscribers on BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel is also increasing significantly. The number of their subscribers increased by nearly 2.3 million right before and after the release of their ‘Pink Venom’ music video, and has currently more than 79 million subscribers. The group is on the verge of achieving 80 million YouTube subscribers for the first time in the world.
Meanwhile, ‘Pink Venom’ is enjoying enormous popularity not only on YouTube, but on various global charts. The song topped Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart for three consecutive days, and has so far topped the iTunes Song chart in 75 countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. The song also took home the song of the week on MBC M’s ‘Show! Champion’, and Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’.
