BLACKPINK LISA Ranks 2nd on U.S.’ Billboard Global 200 Charts, 87th on Hot 100

[OSEN=지민경 기자] BLACKPINK LISA successfully entered the U.S.’ main Billboard charts with her first solo album ‘LALISA’

Billboard notified on the 20th that the title song for LISA’s solo album ‘LALISA’ ranked 2nd on the Billboard Global 200 She also entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart as 84th, making her presence in the mainstream pop market.

This is the second highest score reached among K-POP female solo artists following fellow BLACKPINK Member ROSÉ’s ‘On The Ground (70th)’. This was an achievement reached solely by the music and album, as the current situation does not allow her to pursue any musical activities overseas.

U.S. economic magazine Forbes highlighted LISA’s such achievements in detail. The magazine pointed out that “LISA’s solo title song ‘LALISA’ and track song ‘MONEY’ took 6th and 8th pace respectively on the Billboard Digital Sales Chart. It then added that “This is a meaningful feat in the U.S. music market”.

BLACKPINK has been listed on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 several times and consistently earned the title of the ‘First’ and the ‘Best’ among K-POP girl groups. ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU (55th)’, ‘Kiss And Make Up (93rd)’, ‘Kill This Love'(41st), ‘Sour Candy'(33rd), ‘How You Like That'(33rd), ‘Ice Cream'(13th), ‘Lovesick Girls'(59th) were the songs that got listed.

ROSÉ took the first place for the first time as a K-POP solo artist with ‘On The Ground’ on the Billboard Global 200 chart which decides on the rank based on streaming and sales collected from 200 countries from all around the world including the U.S.. With LISA’s solo ‘LALISA’ taking the 2nd spot on the chart, attention is being drawn to how the trends are shifting within the global music market.

Meanwhile LISA is breaking various records on global charts with her solo album released on the 10th. ‘LALISA’ has so far topped the iTunes Top Song Chart in 72 different countries, and took the first place on YouTube Top 100 Songs Chart counted from September 10th to the 16th. She also ranked 15th on Spotify’s Global Chart and 68th on the Official Singles Chart Top 100 of England.

The music video for ‘LALISA’ reached 73.6 million YouTube views on the first day of release, breaking the world record as a solo artist. She then reached 100 million views in just two days, becoming the first –POP solo artist to reach such a feat in the shortest amount of time.

The initial sales for the ‘LALISA’ album were counted as 736,221 copies according to the Hanteo Chart, achieving an all-time result. It’s estimated that the figure exceeded 800,000 copies when considering overseas sales too. Attention is now being drawn to whether she’ll reach an accumulated sales of 1 million copies.
