YG TREASURE’s Surprise Present Summing Up Their 6-Month Journey… #1M #No.1 on Charts #Rookie Awards
[OSEN=지민경 기자] YG’s rookie group TREASURE revealed a video summarizing the group’s history on ‘THE FIRST STEP’, gathering the attention of global fans. The video was filled with TREASURE’s sincere hopes wishing for their fans’ happiness, which touched the viewers’ hearts.
On February 11, YG Entertainment uploaded the TREASURE – ‘THE FIRST STEP’ Series Recap video through their official blog and TREASURE’s official social media account. The video looked back into the past 6 months from August last year until January of this year, when TREASURE was active with ‘THE FIRST STEP’ series, to repay the fans who have shown heated love and support.
The video began as the album cover with ‘THE FIRST STEP SERIES’ written on in opened up. The video then presented photos of the group being active since their debut single ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ released last year until their latest official debut album ‘THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT’.
The video was full of various behind images including the MV shooting scene, album cover shooting scene, the countdown live scene, and more from their album preparation and promotional activities. A polaroid photo revealing what the camera could not capture was revealed for the first time as well, gathering the attention of the fans.
The lyrics which showed up in the background including ‘Even if we don’t say it all, we know each other’s strengths’ and ‘Let’s hold hands tightly so we can’t see the end’ were also impressive. The lyrics were from the song ‘SLOWMOTION’, which became a topic since it was a gift from LEE CHAN HYUK of AKMU. The lyrics resembling TREASURE’s goal and faith harmonized with the video, maximizing the emotional mood of the clip.
TREASURE has successfully completed their activities on ‘THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT’. They have recently proved their global popularity by being selected as ‘The fastest rising K-Pop artist of 2020’, according to Twitter’s 2020 K-Pop report. TREASURE was also ranked at no. 6 on the ‘Most loved K-pop artists in the world’ list, which was the highest rank among all rookie artists.
In fact, TREASURE has achieved a milestone of surpassing over 1M in album sales with ‘THE FIRST STEP SERIES’, while all 4 releases from the series have topped iTunes charts in multiple countries. With their successful activities and the fans’ support, TREASURE received rookie awards at numerous major award ceremonies, and are currently scheduled to make official Japanese debut on March 31.
