[동아닷컴=홍세영 기자] With YG TREASURE’s official Japanese debut only 15 days ahead, the local media and fans are spotlighting the group and their releases more, day by day.
According to YG Entertainment on March 16, their pre-release song ‘BOY’ from TREASURE’s upcoming official Japanese debut album is maintaining its no. 1 spot on the Daily Chart of Line Music, which is the biggest music platform in Japan, for 6 consecutive days.
TREASURE released 4 songs in Japanese including ‘BOY’, ‘I LOVE YOU’, ‘MMM’, and ‘MY TREASURE’ on the 10th, and the results were outstanding. ‘BOY’ topped the chart in an hour since its release, while the other tracks were also placed on the top ranks, proving TREASURE’s dominant uptrend.
All 4 title tracks from TREASURE’s ‘THE FIRST STEP’ series has topped major Japanese charts. The song ‘BEAUTIFUL’, the ending theme song of a Japanese animation series released back in January, also topped Japanese charts, and proved the group’s local popularity.
Japanese media are also paying keen attention. Fuji TV’s ‘Mister Sunday’ and Nippon TV’s ‘Sukkiri’ covered TREASURE’s old audition videos, their trainee days, how TREASURE was created, how they rose to become the global rookies, and member interviews, showing high anticipations on their upcoming Japanese debut.
Nippon TV’s ‘Sukkiri’ spotlighted the records set by TREASURE ever since making debut and chose the fact that there are 4 Japanese members as why their popularity in Japan is expanding fast, as well as forecasting that they will continue to grow since they’ve equipped themselves with global competence through YG’s strict training and strategy.
The members of TREASURE revealed their aspirations during their interview with the two programs by stating, “We look forward to our Japanese debut, thanks to the Japanese fans’ support” and added, “Our goal is for all of us 12 members to go on a world tour”.
With their Japanese debut coming up on the 31st, TREASURE is currently holding various local promotional activities such as opening a pop-up store in Shibuya 109 on March 12 and pre-releasing songs from their upcoming official debut album.
