iKON to Make Comeback on March→‘Kingdom’ on April.. YG, “Will Give Full Support”, Expected to Turn Things Around
[OSEN=김은애 기자] Group iKON will keep themselves ‘busy’ while preparing for their upcoming album and appearance on ‘Kingdom’.
According to K-Pop officials on February 8, iKON will make comeback to the K-Pop scene.
It will be their comeback in approximately a year and a month since they released ‘i DECIDE’ last year on February. According to OSEN’s coverage, the members will begin shooting the MV for their upcoming new song.
Since they had a long break, it is said that the members of iKON are more passionate than they’ve ever been. The members are also known to be actively participating in the creative process of the album, putting in hard work.
Since iKON will be appearing on Mnet ‘Kingdom’ which will premiere on April, it is expected that iKON will receive a lot of attention when they release their new album during early March. ‘Kingdom’ is an audition program among boy groups who dream of becoming ‘kings’. iKON’s appearance was decided after YG Entertainment and Mnet have begun collaborating with each other again, in almost 4 years of time.
Since iKON has received favorable reviews for their dominant performance skills and it will be their first time appearing on an external audition program, the news on their appearance itself has surprised the entire K-Pop scene.
The people are also wondering whether iKON can rebound after overcoming their breakup through their upcoming album and ‘Kingdom’. iKON has topped music charts with their debut song ‘MY TYPE’ and has released numerous hits including ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ and ‘KILLING ME’, which eventually awarded them the grand prize of year-end K-Pop award ceremonies.
However, iKON had to go through a breakup and be reorganized as a 6-member group back in 2019. Nevertheless, iKON topped iTunes album charts in 24 different countries with their album ‘i DECIDE’, while BOBBY also dominated iTunes charts with his second solo album ‘LUCKY MAN’ released last month.
iKON will put in their everything on preparing their new album and their appearance on ‘Kingdom’ for the fans. The members also raised anticipation on their upcoming activities by stating, “We’ll respond with great performances for the fans who have patiently waited”.
High-ranked officials of YG have also hinted, “Rather than focusing on competing and getting high rankings, we will give our full support on helping them present great music and performances”, revealing the agency’s support towards iKON.
