“Trust and Listen”… AKMU’s ‘HAPPENING’ Tops Music Charts→’Positive Reviews’ on Unrivaled Emotions
[OSEN=이승훈 기자] AKMU topped major Korean music charts with their new single ‘HAPPENING’, notifying the return of the chart influencers you ‘trust and listen to’.
AKMU’s third single ‘HAPPENING’ was ranked at no. 1 on the real-time charts of Bugs, Genie, and Vibe as of November 17 at 9 AM.
After its release on the 16th at 6 PM, ‘HAPPENING’ was ranked at no. 1 on the real-time chart of Bugs. The song then topped the Genie chart and has even topped the Naver Vibe top rising chart on November 17.
Furthermore, the song was ranked at no. 20 on Melon, the platform that changed its main chart to a 24-hour accumulative chart, in a quarter of a day, showing a steady rising trend.
AKMU has made comeback in approximately a year and 2 months since the release of their third album ‘Sailing’. While their previous title song ‘How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You’re the One I Love’ dealt with the emotions of love, their single ‘HAPPENING’ is a continuation of those emotions.
Through the ‘HAPPENING’ MV behind film revealed through YG’s official blog today, AKMU LEE CHAN HYUK revealed, “The song shows how a person who’s wounded by the emotions of love deal with a situation where he gets another opportunity to fall in love”.
The MV for ‘HAPPENING’ contains many stories of these people. The ‘HAPPY ENDING’ and ‘HAPPENING’ after a breakup crosses, symbolically unraveling the two contrasted emotions.
The emotions of happiness and emotions after a breakup were expressed through the repetition of people and facilities shining bright and then disappearing wherever LEE SUHYUN went, including the streets, bus station, the aquarium, and the restaurant. A lover turned into skeletons, the empty streets and aquarium, and a cactus in his arms also represented LEE CHAN HYUK’s depleted emotions after a breakup.
LEE CHAN HYUK and LEE SUHYUN presented emotional acting which they have not presented before through the MV for ‘HAPPENING’, presenting their aspects as matured artists.
