BLACKPINK Wins No. 1 on Music Broadcasts for 3 Consecutive Weeks with ‘Lovesick Girls’… Achieves Triple Crown
[헤럴드POP=김나율 기자] BLACKPINK achieved the so-called ‘triple crown’ by winning first place on music broadcasts for 3 consecutive weeks with ‘Lovesick Girls’.
BLACKPINK appeared on SBS ‘Inkigayo’ broadcasted on the 25th and performed their title track ‘Lovesick Girls’ from their official debut album. It was a glamorous performance which matched their status as the dominant no. 1 nominee. The global fans cheered, while BLACKPINK repaid their fans’ support by winning the trophy for the final week of October on ‘Inkigayo’.
As a result, BLACKPINK achieved a rare record of winning first place on music broadcasts for 6 consecutive weeks with two songs from the same album.
BLACKPINK has previously won first place on SBS ‘Inkigayo’ for 3 consecutive weeks(third week of September~first week of October) with their pre-release single, ‘Ice Cream’. The group then won another triple crown(second week of October~final week of October) with their title song ‘Lovesick Girls’, decorating another honorable nickname.
BLACKPINK received trophies not only on ‘Inkigayo’, but also on other numerous music broadcasts including ‘M Countdown’, ‘Show Champion’, and ‘Music Bank’. BLACKPINK expressed their gratitude towards the fans every time they received awards by stating, “We thank you and love you, BLINK”.
BLACKPINK also set a milestone in K-Pop girl group history by being ranked at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and UK’s Official Albums Chart through their debut album, ‘THE ALBUM’. They also became the first-ever K-Pop girl group to top US Billboard’s Artist 100 chart.
Their title track ‘Lovesick Girls’ was ranked at no. 3 on the Global Top 50 chart of Spotify, the world’s biggest music streaming platform, and was ranked at no. 1 on the Global YouTube Song Top 100 chart for 2 consecutive weeks, proving their ongoing popularity.
Their pre-release single ‘Ice Cream’ was successfully charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and UK’s Official Singles Top 100 for 7 and 8 consecutive weeks respectively, becoming the K-Pop girl group release to have been charted on two of the biggest Pop charts for the longest period of time.
The MV for ‘Ice Cream’ is heading towards 400M views on YouTube, while the MV for ‘Lovesick Girls’ surpassed 200M views today(25th). BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel is also accumulating subscribers at a fast pace and has almost reached 52M subscribers at the moment.
BLACKPINK has met their global fans this year through activities of wide range, not only online but also through music broadcasts, variety programs, documentary, and talk shows hosted by ABC.
