Psy’s Gangnam Style hits 1.4 billion views – the record-breaking continues

Gangnam Style, which helped Psy rise to global stardom, hit 1.4 billion views.

In the morning of March 10 Gangnam Style’s viewer number reached 1.43 billion, breaking the record. In November 2012 the viral music video accumulated 1.3 billion views, and in just one month, an additional 100 million people watched the clip.

Psy’s world-famous video was first revealed to the public on July 15, and in just 52 days (Sept 4) it hit 100 million views; in 66 days (Sept 18) 200 million; in 76 days (Sept 28) 300 million, in 86 days (Oct 8) 400 million, in 98 days (Oct 20) 500 million, in 109 days (Oct 31) 600 million, in 120 days (Nov 11) 700 million, in 132 days (Sept 24) 800 million, in 146 days (Dec 7) 900 million, in 161 days (Dec 22) 1 billion, in 171 days (Jan 1 2013) 1.1 billion, in 186 days (Jan 16) 1.2 billion, in 211 days (Feb 10) 1.3 billion, in 239 days (March 10) 1.4 billion views. The record-breaker’s race seems to have no end to it.

If we look at how many days it took for Psy to accumulate an additional 100 million views since its release, the first 100 million took 52 days, but it just took 14 days to jump to 200 million. From 200 to 300 million it took 10 days, and from 300 million 400 million, 10 days. From 400 to 500 million 12 days were spent, and the same amount of time was taken to reach 600 million from 500 million. From 600 to 700 million it took 11 days; from 700 to 800 million 12 days, from 800 to 900 million 14 days, from 900 million to 1 billion 15 days. From there it took 10 days to reach 1.1 billion hits, and took other 15 days to accumulate an additional 100 million viewers. From 1.2 to 1.3 billion it took 25 days, and another 28 days from 1.3 billion to the latest record, 1.4 billion.

Psy will hold a solo concert dubbed Happening on April 13 at Seoul World Cup Stadium, and will unveil his new single album on the same day.
