iKON, “Would Like to Make Happy Memories with Fans This Year as Well… Working Diligently on the Album”
[한경닷컴=신지원 기자] iKON revealed the full-version performance of ‘Flower’, the no. 1 hidden track selected by fans, for the first time.
iKON appeared on ‘Hidden Track 2’, broadcasted on the 30th through Seezn, and had time to review their ‘Hidden classics that should be known by more people’.
iKON made guesses themselves prior to the announcement of ‘iKON’s hidden tracks which the fans would like to see on stage’. The members unanimously chose ‘Flower’ as no. 1.
However, their opinions were mixed on the no. 3 song. JAY, SONG, JU-NE, DK, and CHAN chose ‘Ah Yeah’, while BOBBY chose ‘BEAUTIFUL’. The members decided that they will be punished by performing the ‘3 aegyo set’ if they were wrong.
The no. 1 candidate songs were ‘Flower’ and ‘DON’T FORGET’. Among the two candidate songs, ‘Flower’ was selected as the no. 1 song by receiving almost 22% of the votes by fans. According to the fans’ vote results, iKON revealed their full performance of ‘Flower’ for the first time.
‘Flower’ is a song listed on iKON’s third mini album, ‘i DECIDE’, released back in February. The song was the first piece of work by DK. The song ‘Flower’ was ranked on the real-time charts of music streaming platforms after the album was released, raising expectations on DK’s musical growth.
DK shared his creative process by stating, “It’s not only a fan song, but also a song which I would like to comfort many people with. I wrote it with the thought, ‘What would happen if I can’t meet my fans anymore’. I also made the choreography myself”. He then showed his affections towards his first work by adding, “It has a great meaning for me, and I feel attached to it”.
On the song ‘Don’t Forget’ from iKON’s second full album ‘RETURN’ released on January 2018, JU-NE revealed, “We contained the message, ‘Don’t forget the precious and brilliant moments we had even after time passes’”. DK mentioned part of the lyrics which stated, ‘If I can’t reminisce you as my everything, then leave me a piece of you that I can’t forget’ and explained, “It’s a sad breakup song”.
The no. 3 song was ‘JERK’ from the album ‘RETURN’. DK explained, “It’s a song which states, ‘You are a good woman who accepted even my bad side, so I’m the bad guy’”. JU-NE added, “It has a bluesy feeling. The mood and the lyrics are very good”.
The members were punished after the no. 3 song turned out to be unexpected by everyone. The members of iKON presented an aegyo set of 3 for the fans in a close range where their cheeks were close enough to touch, which presented laughter for the viewers.
The no. 4 song was ‘BEAUTIFUL’ from their album ‘RETURN’. SONG introduced, “It’s a pretty piece of music which states one being blinded by love, as a boy falls in love with a girl”. DK revealed a behind episode on the song by adding, “It’s a song with fast tempo. We had to learn the choreography in a short amount of time, while the moves were even difficult”.
‘ADORE YOU’ was placed at no. 5. The song is part of the ‘NEW KIDS : THE FINAL’, released back in October 2018. CHAN shared a behind story on the song by stating, “The original title was ‘Good Guy’, but the lyric ‘Adore You’ fit the song better and eventually became the new title”.
The no. 6 song was ‘HUG ME’ from their album ‘RETURN’. JAY explained, “It’s a song that states, let me hug you just once before you leave me for him. It’s a song for DK, who has a beautiful falsetto”. The song ‘Ah Yeah’ from the album ‘i DECIDE’ was ranked at no. 7. SONG stated, “It’s the most energetic and iKON-like song from our latest album. It’s even more interesting if you watch our performance on stage”.
The production staff of the show prepared a surprise birthday cake for JU-NE, who’s birthday is March 31. JU-NE wished, “I hope to make happy memories with our fans this year”. JAY also told the fans, “We’re diligently working on our new album. I hope to meet you more often this year”.
