iKON’s ‘Kingdom’ Introductory Performance… A Glamorous Finale
[스포츠경향=김서영 기자] Group iKON’s two trademarks, ‘excitement’ and ‘coolness’, were properly expressed through ‘Kingdom’.
On April 1, Mnet’s ‘Kingdom: Legendary War’(hereby ‘Kingdom) has finally unveiled. The episode covered the first meeting of the 6 groups and their introductory performances. iKON performed ‘RHYTHM TA’, showing off their unrivaled aura as ‘iKON’.
iKON entered the meeting as the last group while being greeted by the five teams. They yelled their group chant and sat in their seats with ease. BOBBY and DK chatted, “Let’s compete with cuteness”, making the fans smile.
JAY promised that the team will show iKON’s unique colors and feelings by stating, “I’ll show you what being cool is like”. JU-NE shared his thoughts on making appearance on the program by stating, “I’ve never been more heated than I was on a survival program. I want to feel that excitement one more time”.
DK stated, “I was frustrated that we don’t have opportunities to meet our fans, but I think we’ll be able to present various performances through ‘Kingdom’”. BOBBY proudly stated, “We do it when we do. We’ll do our best”.
The introductory performance topic was ‘No. 1 music broadcast, reinterpreting the honorary moment’. iKON was ranked at no. 1 on the rank predictions made by all teams, and decorated the ending stage which all teams wanted to perform.
The song iKON selected was ‘RHYTHM TA’, the track with Trap beats and a Hip-hop groove. The song has iKON’s energetic dance, fierce rap, sophisticated flow, and a catchy hook repeating ‘RHYTHM TA’.
iKON began their group dance under the red lights while receiving everyone’s attention. They presented a daring performance, jumping on the air and sliding on the floor, which required perfect harmony between the members.
While all groups were in awe, iKON even mashed-up YG Family’s hit song ‘Hip-hop Gentlemen’. They fused themselves with the music while showing off their charms and skills gained from experience, dominating the ‘Kingdom’ stage.
The control of dynamics based on their experiences of participating in 4 survival programs were also impressive. iKON emphasized their strong Hip-hop swag as well as making smiles, presenting a performance which made the viewers enjoy. BOBBY became the ending fairy of ‘Kingdom’ with his pose of sticking out his head after the performance was complete.
After successfully completing their introductory performance, iKON noticed their performance which will be perfected even further. DK humbly stated, “I thought I should just enjoy, but I think we’ll need more”, making the people look forward to iKON’s upcoming performances on ‘Kingdom’.
iKON has only just begun. Their upcoming performances will be presented through the first, second, third, and the FINAL live broadcast of ‘Kingdom’. The fans showed explosive responses to iKON’s upcoming ‘Kingdom’ performances by writing, “We look forward to next week”, “I want to see the second episode”, and “Show everything you want to show”.
Meanwhile, ‘Kingdom’ is the boy group version of the program ‘Queendom’, which was popular back in 2019. Boy groups including iKON, BTOB, SF9, The Boyz, Stray Kids, and ATEEZ will compete each other in good faith. The show airs every Thursday at 7:50 PM.
