YG Reveals Episode 1 of ‘TREASURE MAP’… Challenges on Cooking 288 Servings of Food+Mukbang
[매일경제 스타투데이=이다겸 기자] YG Entertainment’s rookie boy group TREASURE challenged on cooking 288 servings of food and ‘mukbang’, while revealing their jolly charms.
On January 17 at 12 PM, YG uploaded episode 1 of ‘TREASURE MAP’ through TREASURE’s official YouTube channel.
‘TREASURE MAP’ contains the story of 12 creators on a journey to find the hearts(treasure) of subscribers. At the same time, MAP(Maximum Amusement Project) from the title of the show refers to the ‘most interesting project’ made by TREASURE.
The members made the viewers smile by officially shared greetings in the beginning of ‘TREASURE MAP’ by saying “Teuha”, which is a parody of an in-word “Pengha”.
TREASURE’s first mission as YouTubers was cooking 144 servings of tteokbokki and 144 servings of gimbap, plus a ‘mukbang’. Surprised by the huge mission, JIHOON made idle remarks by stating “We should share them with all residents of Mapo-gu” and “We should at least do that for the thumbnail”, making the members burst into laughter.
After diving into 3 teams of 4, TREASURE members were informed that they cannot discuss the ingredients together and went shopping. After shopping diverse ingredients within a time limit of 15 minutes, the members had ‘shopping basket unboxing time’. TREASURE prepared various ingredients including ham, mozzarella cheese, eggs, bacon, shrimp, and salmon, before they finally began their mission of cooking 288 servings of food.
The ‘Tteokbokki team’ was composed of CHOI HYUN SUK, JUNKYU, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, and DOYOUNG. The ‘Gimbap team’ was composed of JIHOON, YOSHI, MASHIHO, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, and SO JUNG HWAN. Both teams began cooking with an energetic fighting spirit, but soon revealed their clumsy charms by revealing their poor cooking skills.
YOON JAE HYUK poured the teabag stock after opening the bag by mistake and hypnotized himself by stating, “What can I challenge if I get scared in front of food”, while JUNKYU made the people burst into laughter by adding preservatives along with the rice cake into the soup. YOSHI and MASHIHO focused while they made gimbap, creating their first-ever gimbap.
TREASURE than began their ‘passionate mukbang’. They left favorable reviews and praised themselves by stating, “It’s a success considering it was our first try”, “It’s really delicious”, and “The taste reminds me of when I was in second grade elementary school”.
Although they failed on the ‘mukbang’ on 288 servings, TREASURE promoted their friendship and looked forward to their next challenge.
The show ‘TREASURE MAP’ will be uploaded every Friday at 12 PM, once a week. The viewers will be able to take a glimpse of TREASURE’s true selves throughout their daily lives, while the show will also present various episodes directed and participated by the members themselves.
