BLACKPINK’s ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ Becomes 7th Most Viewed M/V in the World This Year
[텐아시아=김수경 기자] The M/V for BLACKPINK’s ‘Kill This Love’ was ranked at no. 7 on the ‘Most Viewed M/V of 2019’ list announced by YouTube on November 19(local time).
BLACKPINK was the only K-Pop artist to be ranked within no. 10 of the list. The M/Vs of Billie Eilish’s ‘bad guy’ and Ariana Grande’s ‘7 rings’ were ranked at no. 8 and no. 9, respectively.
The M/V for ‘Kill This Love’ surpassed 100 million views on April 5, in 62 hours since the video was released. The video then became the fastest K-Pop group video to surpass 200 million views. After a steady rise in view count, the M/V currently has approximately 650 million views.
At the time of its release, ‘Kill This Love’ was ranked at no. 41 and no. 24 on Billboards ‘Hot 100’ and the ‘Billboard 200’, respectively. The wrote the first and longest K-Pop girl group record on Billboard’s main charts by being charted for 4 consecutive weeks. The group also entered UK’s ‘Official Singles Chart Top 100’ for 5 consecutive weeks. The chart is known as one of the two biggest music charts in the world, along with Billboard.
Ever since making debut, BLACKPINK has accumulated a total of 18 videos with over 100 million views, including M/Vs, dance practice videos, and music broadcast contents. Their official YouTube channel has 31.4 million subscribers, which allows the group to connect with their fans worldwide.
While being active around the globe, BLACKPINK was also selected as the ‘TIME 100 NEXT 2019’ on the 14th. BLACKPINK raised the fans’ expectations by being selected on the list among Pop stars and celebrities such as Camila Cabello and Ezra Miller.
Furthermore, on November 11, BLACKPINK won three categories at the ‘E! People’s Choice Awards’, including ‘The Group of 2019’, ‘The Music Video of 2019’, and ‘The Concert Tour of 2019’.
