[Y SCENE] ‘iKON’ Out of YG’s Jewel Box… Walk the Flower Road (COMPREHENSIVE)
[YTN Star=강내리 기자] Group ‘iKON’ is about to make comeback with a new lyrical song titled ‘GOODBYE ROAD’, which fits the vibes of autumn. They are making a fast comeback in approximately 2 months, after the group’s latest comeback on August. They opened up YG’s jewel box and is about to make their third comeback this year.
On October 1 at 2 PM, iKON held a press conference to celebrate the release of their new mini album ‘NEW KIDS: THE FINAL’ in CGV Cheongdam Cine City. They are making comeback in approximately 2 months, since they made comeback on August with the song ‘KILLING ME’.
The members felt calm and relaxed during the conference. The reporters focused on the fact that the group made a speedy comeback. Due to the infrequent number of comebacks, the agency is known for its nickname, ‘YG jewel box’.
Leader B.I stated, “We are also surprised at our speedy comeback. We can’t believe we’re making our third comeback this year, but we don’t really know how we did it”. He added, “Doing our best is a necessity, so I think we were lucky”.
On their 4th year after making debut, iKON achieved remarkable results with songs ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ and ‘KILLING ME’, earning the nickname ‘elementary school presidents. They strengthened the group’s awareness and fandom by presenting their unique musical color.
Would there be pressure due making comeback after a huge success. iKON hoped, “We would be grateful if a lot of people enjoyed our music, but we emptied our minds. We hope a lot of people would listen to the song comfortably”.
Despite releasing hits every single time, they made comeback this year, they were humble on every question that asked them how they feel about making comeback. B.I used the expression, “We got lucky while we created songs”. However, they were enthusiastic while answering to questions regarding interesting points and choreography moves.
The title song of their upcoming album was written and composed by leader B.I. B.I stated, “I thought about the antonym of ‘flower road’ and came up with ‘goodbye road’. After that, I started writing the lyrics”.
BOBBY who participated in writing the lyrics explained, “I thought about the word ‘goodbye road’, imagining someone leaving for somewhere after a break-up. I had to draw a lot of drawings about it”. BOBBY also acted for the new music video for ‘GOODBYE ROAD’.
BOBBY earnestly stated, “I worked with an actress this time. It was hard to express emotions. I was supposed to make a lonely facial expression since it’s a sad song, but we always showed our bright side. It was hard trying to get emotional”.
On other points to focus on the music video, iKON responded, “We took the video a year ago, and filmed additionally a month ago to fill in some points. It will be interesting to compare our past and present”.
Lastly, iKON asked for the fans’ support by stating, “Since the lyrics of ‘GOODBYE ROAD’ are pretty, we hope a lot of people like the song. We will continue to present music that express our age and generation”.
iKON’s matured and relaxed presence noticed a ‘flower road’ in the group’s future. They reacted to negative issues such as JU-NE’s social media controversy with fortitude and focused on explaining the music.
Meanwhile, iKON’s new mini album will contain a total of 4 tracks including ‘the title song ‘GOODBYE ROAD’, ‘DON’T LET ME KNOW’, ‘ADORE YOU’, and ‘PERFECT’. The songs will be released online at 6 PM through various music platforms.
