[OSEN=김은애 기자] Group BLACKPINK is about to shake the world. The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ not only became the fastest MV to surpass 100 million views among K-Pop girl groups, but they also swept Billboard’s main charts.

On June 25 (local time), Billboard announced that the title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ from BLACKPINK’s first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ is expected to debut as no. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100, which will be announced on the 30th.

According to Nielson Music, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ was streamed 12,400,000 times in the US and was downloaded 7,000 times. They were placed at no. 39 on the Streaming Song Chart.

It’s the first time BLACKPINK reaching the Billboard Chart. It’s been 9 years since a K-Pop girl group made debut on Billboard Charts since Wonder Girls’ ‘Nobody’ back in 2009.

BLACKPINK also made debut on the Billboard 200 with ‘SQUARE UP’, as no. 40. The album became the first girl-group album to reach this chart since 2NE1’s ‘CRUSH’, released back in 2014.

BLACKPINK re-wrote all pre-existing records held by K-Pop girl groups as they made debut on Billboard’s main charts including the Hot 100 and Billboard 200, surprising everyone.

Furthermore, the MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 100 million views on YouTube on June 25 at 11:45 PM. They achieved the record in 10 days and 5 hours since the MV was released, and shortened the previous record to approximately one third.

The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 10 million views in the first 6 hours, 20 million views in 13 hours, 30 million views in 23 hours, 40 million views in 27 hours, 50 million views in 50 hours, 60 million views in 82 hours, 70 million views in 120 hours, 80 million views in 161 hours, 90 million views in 199 hours, and ultimately 100 million views in 245 hours, sweeping all pre-existing time related records held by K-Pop girl groups.

BLACKPINK also fascinated music fans in Europe. On June 22 (local time”, UK’s Official Chart announced that the title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ from BLACKPINK’s first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ was ranked at 78 on the ‘Official Singles Chart Top 100’

The UK’s ‘Official Chart’ is known as one of the three biggest music charts in the world, along with US’ Billboard and Japan’s Oricon. Although the ‘Official Chart’ is known to be conservative, they emphasized BLACKPINK’s remarkable success by writing, “Congratulations. BLACKPINK is the first K-Pop girl group to debut at UK’s Official Single Chart” through their official social media.

BLACKPINK is writing the first, best, and fastest records, day by day. While they are maintaining their ‘all-kill’ status in Korean music charts for 12 days and are dominating music broadcasts, the group still heading towards the top.
