Girl-group BLACKPINK performed in a year-end concert. They reinterpreted ‘SO HOT’ by Wonder Girls, and are currently stacking up large view counts online.
BLACKPINK appeared on ‘2017 SBS Gayo Daejun’ on December 25, and performed a cover of ‘SO HOT’ and their hit single, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’.
‘2017 SBS Gayo Daejun’ had the concept of looking back into the history of Gayo Daejuns held in the past. ‘SO HOT’ covered by BLACKPINK is a song released on2008 by Wonder Girls, which took the no. 1 spot on Melon’s yearly chart.
The song reborn through BLACKPINK in 9 years, helped create a legendary performance with BLACKPINK’s unique color and swag. Their performance posted on YouTube hit almost 2 million views in15 hours, while they hit 36,000 views on Naver TV, which is dominantly first place among other idol groups.
BLACKPINK is not only known for their music, but also known for their music videos and stage videos that are setting milestones with record-high views. The music video for their previous hit, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’ hit 200 million views on YouTube within the shortest amount of time among videos by K-Pop groups. Also, the video was named as ‘The most loved K-Pop video in the world 2017’.
Surprisingly, all these results were accomplished in a year since debut. Although BLACKPINK is a rookie girl-group, they became the group that represent Korea, loved by fans from not only Korea but from all over the world.
While their first-ever reality program, ‘BLACKPINK HOUSE’ is set to first premiere on the first week of January, they are known to be recording their new single. People are wondering if 2018 will be BLACKPINK’s year, once again.
