[YESTERDAY TV] “BANG YE DAM is BANG YE DAM”… Even JYP Surprised in ‘STRAY KIDS’
[OSEN=유지혜 기자] BANG YE DAM appeared on ‘Stray Kids’ in 4 years since ‘K-Pop Star 2’.
On the latest episode of Mnet’s ‘Stray Kids’ which aired on November 21, the first trainee battle between JYP and YG was revealed.
JYP and YG previously had 4 battles against each other, including the battles between SE7EN and RAIN, BIGBANG and 2PM, WINNER and GOT7, DAY6, WINNER, and iKON. Park Jin Young stated, ‘YANG HYUN SUK will think his team did better but I think teams from our company won all battles”, displaying his confidence.
Park Jin Young also stated, “It’s a battle of pride”, and “Although I’m good friends with YANG HYUN SUK and these battles are traditions of YG and JYP, we have to win when we have to”, showing his determination. He put in a lot of effort on the battle against YG, as he personally proceeded the middle assessment himself.
The members of ‘Stray Kids’ prepared a free battle of 3RACHA’s Seo Changbin and Han Jisung’s Rap performance, vocal team performance on the 2nd round, and dance team performance on the 3rd round. Through the middle assessment, it was decided that 3RACHA’s key member Bang Chan focuses on changing the track instead of performing, and Yang Jungin was removed from the vocal team as he was assessed as “Not ready to battle yet”.
Only the 1st round was revealed on this episode. 3RACHA’s Seo Changbin and Han Jisung performed ‘Matryoshka’ produced by Bang Chan flawlessly, getting a head start. YANG HYUN SUK expressed his expectations as he stated, ‘I hope you become a rapper acknowledged as an idol and in the hip-hop scene as well’.
YG’s first round was a performance by BANG YE DAM. BANG YE DAM showed his presence at ‘K-Pop Star 2’, and was loved by many viewers. Park Jin Young pointed out BANG YE DAM as a high-level competitor and stated, “When did you become so handsome, I almost didn’t recognize you. You’re singing improved as well, I bet”.
YANG HYUN SUK also had affections for BANG YE DAM. He introduced BANG YE DAM himself by stating “You all know BANG YE DAM” and praised him for doing everything at his best by stating “He’s really smart. He’s a top-student at his school. He practices hard too”.
BANG YE DAM, who stood in front of the public in 4 years, chose Shawn Mendes’ ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back’ for his solo stage. Although it was a simple singing performance, he displayed his enormous vocal ability, overwhelming the audience. He still had his signature groove.
Even Park Jin Young was surprised at BANG YE DAM’s growth. He highly praised him, stating “BANG YE DAM is BANG YE DAM”. As the performance was perfect, members of ‘Stray Kids’ got nervous. The viewers were surprised by BANG YE DAM’s massive growth shown on TV. People are looking forward to YG’s next generation weapon – BANG YE DAM’s performances in the 2nd and 3rd round.
