[일간스포츠=조연경 기자]  It will create a synergy effect of an extraordinary scale. It is indeed a massive shake up.

The biggest news in the music and show industry on April 8 was that producers Hang Dong-chul and Lee Sang-yun will be joining YG Entertainment.

Lee Sang-yun already made his decision, and YG officially announced that he will join the company. With Han Dong-chul, they’re at the final negotiation process.

These are producers that made the hip hop come back again by making hit hip hop TV shows on Mnet. Now, they are joining YG, and the combination between these producers and hip hop powerhouse YG is expected to create extraordinary results.

Han Dong-chul was the creator of renowned hip hop TV shows, such as Show Me The Money and Unpretty Rapstar, and contributed to ushering in the new renaissance of Mnet.  Last year, he made Produce 101, which became a huge hit.

Lee Sang-yun was the main producer of Show Me The Money Season 4 in 2015. Last year, he also produced Mnet’s Dance of Band, which was a debut survival program for FNC Entertainment trainees. He was also the CP for Produce 101 and Golden Tambourine.

From the beginning of this year, YG has been recruiting star producers from various TV stations. Last year, MBC’s Cho Seo-yun, Jae Young-jae, and Kim Min-jong moved to YG. Mnet’s Park Jun-su and tvN’s Yu Sung-mo also joined YG last year.

Now that Hang Dong-chul and Lee Sang-yun will be part of the team, YG is expected to exert tremendous influence. YG can now produce well-made TV programs, and using this as a stepping stone, will be able to dominate not only the music industry but also the show industry.

YG commented, “We’re going to keep on recruiting producers to change and grow.” No wonder the industry is watching YG’s moves with keen interest.
