PSY’s “GANGNAM STYLE” hits 2 billion views! World record broken
[OSEN=박현민 기자] World star PSY’s global hit song “GANGNAM STYLE” hit 2 billion views on YouTube.
At noon on May 31, PSY’s video recorded 2.2136 billion views. And so PSY hit the magic number, a number that is unreachable for anyone in the world.
The video that was uploaded on July 15, 2012, hit 100 million views in just 51 days on Sept 4. In the same year on Dec 22, it broke the record of YouTube by hitting 1 billion views, positioning itself as the sole video clip that hit the highest number in the shortest period of time.
Last year on April 6, it broke its own record by surpassing 1.5 billion hits and on Oct 23 1.8 billion. In just 3 months since then it attracted another 100 million, hitting 1.9 billion. And today the number surpassed a whopping 2 billion.
“GENTLEMAN,” a follow-up of the mega-hit song released on April 13 last year also became the most-watched video in 2013. Last December, on the 13th, the clip reached 600 million views, and today it just went over 688.9 million views.
PSY is almost at the stage of completion for his new album. The album is already building up anticipation as big stars like American hiphop legend Snoop Dogg and BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON feature in it.
