PSY’s “GANGNAM STYLE”: 900,000 to go until 2 billion hits… World record to be broken soon
[스타뉴스 윤성열 기자] The music video of PSY’s mega hit song “GANGNAM STYLE” is on the verge of hitting 2 billion views on YouTube.
The video uploaded on PSY’s official YouTube channel recorded 1.999 billion views on May 30 at 11:40 am.
The viral video unveiled on July 15, 2012, is about to break another record by being on the cusp of reaching 2 billion hits in 1 year and 11 months. Only 900,000 clicks to go until it reaches the record-breaking number.
The viewing rate has been increasingly more slowly than it did last year, but the number is continuously climbing—and at current pace, it will be able to hit 2 billion views by next month. Currently standing at the top of YouTube for attracting the highest number of viewers, “GANGNAM STYLE” will be breaking another record when it hits 2 billion.
With “GANGNAM STYLE,” PSY already landed at #1 on YouTube all around the world. In just 51 days since its release, the clip attracted 100 million views on Sept 4, 2012. In 161 days, on Dec 22, it hit 1 billion views, and on April 6, 2013, the record was once again broken when it hit 1.5 billion views. In 574 days, in February, it boasted consistent increase in popularity by surpassing 1.9 billion views.
It is said that PSY finished recording his new song and will be appearing on America’s famous ABC talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” with Snoop Dogg as guests.
