[스타뉴스 길혜성 기자] World star Psy became the winner of the world’s most viewed K-Pop video artist on YouTube for 2 consecutive years.

On Dec 10, world’s largest video-sharing website YouTube officially announced the top 10 South Korean user-generated content (UGC) that are the most watched around the world by YouTube users, and the most watched K-Pop music video in the last one year (from Dec 2012 to Nov 2013).

According to YouTube, the most watched K-Pop music video in the world is Psy’s ‘Gentleman’, released this April, that raked in a sensational 600 million viewers. ‘Gentleman’ recorded the highest number of viewer in YouTube’s history just after one day of the release, and accumulated 100 million views the fastest as well. He has truly re-written the history of the video-sharing website.

In 2012 Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ became the most watched video in the world, so this year’s performance with ‘Gentleman’ makes him the winner for 2 years in a row in the K-Pop market.

Girls’ Generation followed Psy. They took whopping three ranks in the top 10, ranking #2 with ‘I Got a Boy’, and ranking #5 with ‘Dancing Queen’ and #6 with ‘Galaxy Supernova’. They proved that they are the top K-Pop girl group in the world.

Exo’s ‘Growl’ and ‘Wolf’ ranked #3 and #4 respectively, while f(x)’s ‘Rum Pum Pum Pum’ ranked #7. 2NE1’s ‘Falling in Love’ came in 9th, and 4Minute’s ‘What’s Your Name’ came in at #10. Thus the list of the top 10 most watched K-Pop video was complete.

Meanwhile, world’s most watched South Korean UGC video was by a girl dance team Waveya’s cover dance of Psy’s ‘Gentleman.’

As of Nov 30, South Korean YouTube channels with most followers around the world were Psy, SM Town and BIGBANG, in that order of ranking.
