BLACKPINK ROSÉ Surpasses PSY… Sets ‘K-Pop Solo Artist Record’ on YouTube in 24 Hours
[스타뉴스=문완식 기자] ROSÉ of girl group BLACKPINK set a new record on YouTube as ‘Most Viewed Video in 24 Hours’ and with the ‘Most Number of Viewers’ while setting milestones on global charts with her title track, ‘On The Ground’.
According to YouTube on the 16th(local time), ROSÉ’s ‘On The Ground’ MV reached 41.6M views in 24 hours since its release on the 12th at 2 PM. It is the best K-Pop solo artist record renewed in approximately 8 years, since PSY has set the previous record.
The ‘On The Ground’ MV also brought out heated responses after its release, and was spotlighted by major foreign press channels. Billboard, the major American music magazine, officially posted ROSÉ’s ‘On The Ground’ MV and praised her artistry. Teen Vogue analyzed ROSÉ’s MV in 10 different perspectives, highlighting her latest release.
‘THE INDEPENDENT’, UK’s major press, also covered ROSÉ’s success in detail and reviewed, “She has set amazing records as a solo artist. It is a successful debut”.
‘The Straits Times’, a major Singaporean press, spotlighted her by writing, “ROSÉ set another record on YouTube” and that “She has renewed the Korean solo artist record(36M) previously held by PSY for the past 8 years”.
The MV for ‘On The Ground’ became the most watched video on YouTube after its release on the 12th, and is about to reach 100M views soon. BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel has also reached over 58.8M subscribers after getting on an uptrend after ROSÉ’s album release, and is currently the most subscribed female artist channel in the world.
The song is also proving ROSÉ’s strong presence in major charts in and out of Korea. The song was ranked at no. 1 on Bugs and Genie on the date of its release, and entered the top ranks of Melon, where they accumulate ranks with streams made in 24 hours, in half a day.
The song also topped iTunes Top Song charts in 51 different countries including the US, the country with the biggest Pop market, and also topped the Worldwide Chart. The song also became the most streamed song(among Korean solo artists) in 24 hours on Spotify, the world’s biggest music streaming platform, as well as being ranked at no. 8 on the Global Top 50 chart.
ROSÉ will appear on NBC ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on the 16th(US local time) and continue the hype on her first-ever solo album.
