BLACKPINK ROSÉ’s Solo MV Sets Biggest Record in K-Pop Female Solo Artist History
[동아닷컴=전효진 기자] The MV for BLACKPINK ROSÉ’s title track ‘On The Ground’ set the biggest record in K-Pop solo history on YouTube, in 24 hours since its release.
ROSÉ’s ‘On The Ground’ MV became the most watched video on YouTube on the 12th, after its global release at 2 PM(KST).
The video reached approximately 39M views for 24 hours, which was 5 times more that MVs ranked at no. 2~3. The video also set the viewing record in K-Pop female solo artist MV history.
The MV for ‘On The Ground’ received favorable reviews from the global music fans not only through tis glamorous and grand visuals, but also through lyrics singing ‘first intent’ creating harmony with ROSÉ’s abundant emotional acting.
The global fans are making various interpretations on many symbolic images appeared on the MV and ROSÉ’s acting. They are connecting the lyrics to the MV and are discussing the message ROSÉ is trying to send.
Major foreign press also spotlighted ROSÉ’s solo debut, and are praising her release. US Billboard mentioned the album ‘R’, composed of 2 tracks, and reviewed, “ROSÉ switched the direction of her fame on ‘On The Ground’ and expresses her vocal capacity through ‘Gone’ on top of electric guitar sounds. The two songs are rock solid, and cannot simply be expressed as a side project”.
MTV Australia praised ROSÉ by writing, “The two songs from the album, differentiated from songs of BLACKPINK, let the fans know ROSÉ’s artistry even deeper”. They also mentioned ROSÉ’s social media follower numbers and her album ‘R’ receiving over 400 thousand pre-orders, highlighting her global presence.
In fact, the song is performing well on global music charts. ROSÉ’s title track ‘On The Ground’ topped iTunes Top Song charts in 51 different countries including the US, the country with the biggest Pop market in the world, as well as being ranked at no. 1 on the Worldwide Chart.
Despite being an English song, the song also performed well in Korean music charts. The song ‘On The Ground’ topped Bugs and Genie on the date of its release. It also entered the top ranks of Melon, where they accumulate plays for 24 hours, in half a day, and is heading to become no. 1.
The performance of ‘On The Ground’ not presented through the MV, will unveil through SBS ‘Inkigayo’ tomorrow(14th). It will be her first-ever comeback performance and the first presentation of her solo choreography. Since ROSÉ revealed her satisfaction and noticed a fresh yet solid composition, the global fans are expected to pay keen attention.
Meanwhile, following her comeback performance on SBS ‘Inkigayo’, ROSÉ will appear on NBC ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on the 16th(local time).
