ROSÉ Appears on the ‘Jimmy Fallon Show’… Fascinates Global Fans Through Her Black and White Performance of ‘On The Ground’
[OSEN=지민경 기자] ROSÉ of group BLACKPINK presented her first-ever global solo performance on NBC’s the ‘Jimmy Fallon Show’.
On March 16(local time), ROSÉ appeared on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, hereby ‘Jimmy Fallon Show’) and presented her performance of ‘On The Ground’, the title track of her first-ever solo single album.
The ‘Jimmy Fallon Show’ is one of the most popular talk shows of America, hosted by actor and comedian Jimmy Fallon. Influential politicians such as Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump have made appearances, while global superstars including Lady Gaga, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Ariana Grande have also appeared on previous episodes of the show.
BLACKPINK presented their comeback performance of ‘How You Like That’ last year at the ‘Jimmy Fallon Show’, which led to enthusiastic responses.
After making appearance on the show as the first Korean female solo artist, ROSÉ fascinated the global viewers by presenting an alluring performance along with the dancers. The performance was displayed in black and white, presenting sensual visuals as well.
Meanwhile, ROSÉ’s solo title track ‘On The Ground’ is a song with lyrics which state, ‘I’ve always worked and aimed for a higher place, but the most important value is within myself’. The song has variation on acoustic guitars, tense melodies, and mystic instrument arrangement. They create harmony with ROSÉ’s delicate yet powerful vocals, presenting a new kind of pleasure to its listeners.
The song topped iTunes Top Song charts in 51 different countries including the US, as well as entering the Global Top 50 chart of Spotify, the world’s biggest music platform, as no. 8 and settling in the top 10. The song also remains at no. 1 on the Digital Album Sales chart of QQ Music, which is China’s biggest music platform.
The MV for ‘On The Ground’ became the ‘Most Watched Video in the First 24 Hours’ on YouTube after its release on the 12th and will soon reach 100M views.
