TREASURE Promises to ‘Become Greater Artists’ After Clinching ‘MAMA’ Double Awards
[OSEN=지민경 기자] YG’s TREASURE has added a new trophy to their collection, proving a successful ‘restart’ this year, as they heat up the year-end award ceremonies with their 2nd full album ‘REBOOT’.
TREASURE won two awards at the ‘2023 MAMA AWARDS’ held at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on the 28th and 29th. They claimed the ‘Galaxy Neoflip Artist’ and ‘Favorite Dance Performance Male Group’ categories, marking them as double winners. This is their third trophy from this year’s award ceremonies following their 2nd full album comeback.
TREASURE expressed their determination, saying, “We sincerely thank TREASURE MAKER (the fandom name) for these awards. We will become even greater artists in the future.” They added, “We are grateful and love not only our fans but also everyone who helped create our amazing performances. We will continue to work hard.”
Indeed, TREASURE showcased their true value as ‘performance artists’ representing YG over the two days with various unit and group stages. On the first day of the performance, the rap line, CHOI HYUN SUK, YOSHI, and HARUTO, opened with ‘G.O.A.T (RAP Unit) feat. LEE YOUNG HYUN’ from their 2nd full album, delivering explosive rapping and engaging with the audience and stage, sending fans’ adrenaline soaring.
The second day featured T5 (SO JUNG HWAN, JUNKYU, JIHOON, YOON JAE HYUK, DOYOUNG) performing ‘MOVE,’ captivating the audience with a charm different from the rap unit. The members, dressed in agent concept outfits, emitted unique charisma with mature visuals and groovy dance lines, providing an immersive experience that kept the audience hooked.
The title track ‘BONA BONA’ performance, featuring all ten members, was undoubtedly the highlight. TREASURE escalated the on-site enthusiasm with their steady live performance and precise group dance. The grand drumbeat combined with the large-scale dance break offered a thrilling sensation, reaffirming their overwhelming skills and presence to music fans worldwide.
Meanwhile, TREASURE recently released their 2nd full album ‘REBOOT’ and is actively promoting it. This album has surpassed 1.71 million copies in domestic sales and international exports combined (according to Circle Chart), placing them in the million-seller ranks. Additionally, they are set to meet fans at the ‘2023 TREASURE CONCERT [REBOOT] IN SEOUL’ at the Seoul Olympic Park KSPO DOME (Olympic Gymnastics Arena) from December 15th to 17th.
