[스포츠서울=정하은 기자] YG’s TREASURE has made a great start to the new year by reclaiming the No. 1 spot on Japan’s Oricon weekly chart with their second full album ‘REBOOT’.

According to the announcement by Oricon on January 9th, TREASURE’s second full album ‘REBOOT’ has topped the weekly album chart (2024.1.1~2024.1.7). This follows their immediate ascent to the top of the chart upon its release in August last year, a testament to the consistent love from local fans and their ability to outshine strong competitors once again.

Oricon is Japan’s largest music site, recognized for both credibility and popularity. The steady rise on Oricon’s album chart, a metric indicative of a solid core fandom, reconfirms TREASURE’s strong position. Major Japanese media, including Fuji TV’s ‘Mezamashi TV’, also reported on this news, paying attention to TREASURE’s exceptional moves.

With over 1.88 million copies sold (according to Circle Chart), the second full album ‘REBOOT’ has marked a career high for TREASURE. This is interpreted as giving a boost to their album sales, following their ongoing projects like the second Japanese tour starting from the Fukuoka PAYPAY Dome on January 6th, and the opening of pop-up stores over the three months.

Gaining momentum, TREASURE will release their third Japanese mini-album ‘REBOOT -JP SPECIAL SELECTION-‘ on February 21st. This album is expected to receive a good response as it includes the Japanese version of ‘BONA BONA’, which topped various local charts including Japan’s largest music site Line Music, Japanese versions of ‘MOVE’ and ‘STUPID’, and new original Japanese songs.

Meanwhile, TREASURE is currently conducting the ‘2024 TREASURE TOUR [REBOOT] IN JAPAN’. They will meet fans in a total of 14 shows across 6 cities, including Saitama from January 12th to 14th, Aichi from January 20th to 21st, Osaka from February 3rd to 4th, Fukui from February 10th to 11th, Nagoya from February 14th to 15th, and Hiroshima from February 22nd to 23rd.
