All 7 Members of YG Rookie BABYMONSTER Unveiled…Will YANG HYUN SUK’s Project After Returning as Producer be a Success?
[헤럴드POP=정현태 기자] All 7 prospective members of BABYMONSTER have been revealed to the public, a girl-group YG Entertainment is releasing in 7 years.
On the 6th, YG Entertainment released the live performance video of BABYMONSTER’s last member RUKA.
In the live performance clip, RUKA performed P.Lo’s ‘Feel Good (Feat.G-Eazy)’ and Honey C’s ‘Gwola (Feat.Kid Ink & Maino)’.
RUKA presented outstanding rapping skills with her middle-to-low-toned voice. She then stole the attention with her stage manners. She showed how relaxed she was performing by going around the stage and waving her hands. Her performance was full of hip-hop vibes and swag.
As a result, all 7 prospective members have been revealed to the public. They include HARAM (15), AHYEON (15), CHIQUITA (13), ASA (16), RORA (16), PHARITA (14), and RUKA (20).
HARAM showed unrivaled vocal skills and expressions. AHYEON has both explosive rap and singing skills, and CHIQUITA presented her ability to express her emotions, despite being the youngest among the members. ASA has a beautiful, trendy voice and RORA was all about grooves. PHARITA’s voice was not only clean but mysterious, and RUKA, who has been a YG trainee for the longest period of time among the members of 5 years, showed unrivaled presence as a female rapper.
HARAM, AHYEON, ASA, RORA, and RUKA had previously shown a dramatic dance performance to Young Money’s ‘Senile’. They showed how they’ve ticked all the boxes as an all-rounder.
Also, the fact that they’re a multi-national group with 3 Koreans (AHYEON, HARAM, RORA), 2 Thai (PHARITA, CHIQUITA), and 2 Japanese members (RUKA, ASA) show how YG Entertainment is targeting the global market with BABYMONSTER.
BABYMONSTER is a rookie girl-group YG is launching in 7 years since BLACKPINK in 2016. YG’s executive producer YANG HYUN SUK notified the launch himself in 3 years and 6 months as a producer. Producer Yang said, “They’re babies that have the genes of YG. They’re the first group we’ll be launching in our new building, and they shocked me over the past 4 years during monthly evaluations”
YG said, “BABYMONSTER are still trainees that haven’t made their debut yet. We decided that it’s important for them to be evaluated and acknowledged by the public just by their skills. That’s why we wanted to present their skills first instead of concept photos of interviews. Please evaluate them the way you see and hear them”.
Artists from YG Entertainment also complimented them on their skills. HOONY from WINNER said, “They’re more than outstanding when looking at their skills”, and YOON from WINNER said, “There aren’t that many talents that are outstanding like this”.
LEE SUHYUN from AKMU said, “They’re really good with facial expressions and gestures that steal attention”, and LEE CHANHYUK from AKMU said, “I think they’re the type of singers that are difficult to find in Korea”.
LISA from BLACKPINK said, “All 7 members go well together”, and BLACKPINK JENNIE said, “I think they’re really good overall”. Choreographer LEE JUNG said, “She’s born with talent, and one of her greatest strengths is that you can see how determined she is in her eyes”.
Attention is being drawn to what kind of change BABYMONSTER will bring to the music market. YG Entertainment said, “Now that all performance clips of the 7 members have been unveiled, we plan to kick off BABYMONSTER’s debut project”, asking for the public’s attention.
