[OSEN=지민경 기자] YG unveiled the very last member for their rookie group BABYMONSTER, and hinted at officially kicking off their debut project, grabbing the attention of global fans.

On the 6th, YG Entertainment put up a video titled ‘BABYMONSTER (#7) – RUKA (Live Performance)’. RUKA was the last member to appear in front of the public. As a 20-year-old girl from Japan, she performed P.LO’s ‘Feel Good (Feat.G-Eazy)’ and Honey C’s ‘Gwola (Feat.Kid Ink & Maino)’ in a row.

From the beginning, RUKA showed off her hip-hop vibes and swag. She first presented a groovy rap with her attractive mid-to-low tone. After switching songs, she didn’t limit herself to the stage and proved her unrivaled stage presence by freely performing around the stage.

Her face, which was partially hidden underneath her bucket hat, was full of confident facial expressions, and her hip gestures showed how confident she was performing. She used her long arms and legs to express herself and hinted at the birth of a ‘complete character’ with her unrivaled rapping skills.

RUKA is a 20-year-old Japanese member and received training for 5 years at YG, the longest among BABYMONSTER members. Not only is she fluent in Japanese, but YG said she’s great with Korean, and can even do her own rap-making in Korean.

With the release of her live performance video, YG unveiled all 7 pre-members of BABYMONSTER. 3 of them are Korean (AHYEON, HARAM, RORA), two are from Thailand (PHARITA, CHIQUITA), and two of them are Japanese (RUKA, ASA). Being a multi-national group, this shows that YG has prepared the group to be a global K-POP superstar, going beyond Korea.

The live performance video of the 7 girls was released first as YG wanted to first see the members’ skills first without any perceptions. The videos are garnering great attention from global fans. Each video reached more than 10 million views and cumulative views have reached more than 100 million views. They already have close to 700,000 subscribers on their official YouTube channel.

Attention is being drawn to whether BABYMONSTER will change the global music scene, going beyond the K-POP industry, as YG has dedicated a lot of time and effort to this group which comes in 7 years since BLACKPINK. YG said, “Since all the performance videos of the 7 members have been released now, we plan on kicking off BABYMONSTER’s debut project in earnest”, asking for the public’s continued attention.
