Pre-orders For BLACKPINK’s 2nd Full Album Surpass 2 million Copies…Best K-POP Record

[헤럴드경제=고승희 기자] Group BLACKPINK broke the record as a K-POP artist by recording more than 2 million copies of pre-orders for their 2nd full album.

According to YG Entertainment on the 25th, the number of pre-orders for BLACKPINK’s new album ‘BORN PINK’, which will be released on September 16, have now exceeded 2 million copies, after recording 1. million copies in just a week.

BLACKPINK had achieved the title of becoming the first K-pop girl group million seller with its 1st full album ‘THE ALBUM’ back in 2020. Not only is the recently achieved feat part of the process of reaching their ‘career high’,

According to YG, sales are increasing for their 2nd full album which comes in four different types, the BOX SET, KiT, LP, and the recently opened digi-pack version. The final pre-order figures is expected to increase further.

BLACKPINK’s pre-released single ‘Pink Venom’ topped the Spotify’s Top Song Global Chart for three consecutive days, which is a first for a Korean artist.  As records on Spotify also affect the Billboard main chart, it’s expected that BLACKPINK will reach their best performance ever in terms of results. The music video for this song also broke the world record for female artists by reaching approximately 90.4 million views in 24 hours of release. The music video surpassed 100 million views in just 29 hours and 35 minutes, breaking the time-record to reach such a feat as a K-POP girl group.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will leave Korea today (25th) to perform at the ‘MTV VMAs’ which ill be held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey on the 28th (local time), and to carry out various promotional activities.
