BLACKPINK ROSÉ’s ‘On The Ground’ Selected as the ‘Best Song of 2021’ by Billboard Staff

[헤럴드POP=박서연 기자] BLACKPINK ROSÉ was listed on ‘The 50 Best Songs of 2021’ list picked by Billboard staff, proving her presence as a K-Pop female solo artist.

Billboard, the American music magazine, announced ‘The 50 Best Songs of 2021 So Far: Staff Picks’ on June 8(local time) through an article uploaded to their website.

ROSÉ’s ‘On The Ground’ was ranked at no. 39. It was meaningful since it was the only K-Pop female solo artist track to be on the list. Billboard wrote, “ROSÉ followed up BLACKPINK’s amazing 2020 with her solo album released in 2021”. They praised her by adding, “ROSÉ gave strength to the public through her solo album and passed on her meaningful and thoughtful message”.

ROSÉ’s ‘On The Ground’ has topped iTunes Top Song charts in 51 different countries including the US after its release in March, and was ranked at no. 1 on the Global YouTube Song Chart and MV Chart. Her solo album ‘R’ has surpassed a total of 570 thousand accumulated sales, earning the ‘Half-Million Seller’ title as well.

Furthermore, the song topped the US Billboard Global Chart, which accumulates streams and downloads generated from 200 different regions of the world, as well as being listed on UK’s Official Single Chart for the first time as a song released by a K-Pop female solo artist, proving her global presence once again.

The song ‘On The Ground’ also proved its global popularity by becoming the fastest K-Pop female solo artist track to surpass 100M streams on Spotify and YouTube. ROSÉ also won 2 official Guinness World Record titles(The Most Watched K-Pop Solo Artist YouTube Video in 24 Hours, First artist to top Billboard’s Global Chart as solo·group).
