BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ Becomes ‘Fastest MV in K-Pop Girl Group History’ to Surpass 800M Views
[일간스포츠=박정선 기자] BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ MV surpassed 800M views. It is BLACKPINK’s 5th MV to surpass 800M views, and is the fastest record in K-Pop girl group MV history.
According to YG Entertainment on March 14, BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ MV surpassed 800M views yesterday as of 9:58 PM.
The record was achieved in approximately 260 days since its release back in June 26. They’ve shortened their previous record set with ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’(800M views in 329 days) by nearly 2 months.
As a result, BLACKPINK has renewed their own record once again and now holds 5 MVs with over 800M views, including ‘BOOMBAYAH’, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, ‘Kill This Love’, and ‘How You Like That’.
The MV for ‘How You Like That’ reached 86.3M views on the date of its release, being listed on the Guinness World Records by becoming the ‘Most Watched Video on YouTube in 24 Hours’. The video then surpassed 100M views in 32 hours, 200M views in 7 days, 300M views in 21 days, 400M views in 43 days, 500M views in 73 days, 600M views in 117 days, and 700M views in 175 days.
‘How You Like That’ is a song with an impressive strong beat and the message of flying high without giving in to difficult situations. The song was selected as the ‘Song of The Summer’ on the 2020 US MTV Video Music Awards, and was selected as the ‘Global Top Summer Song’ by YouTube.
With a total of 26 videos with over 100M views, BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel currently has over 58.5M subscribers. They are the most subscribed female artist in the world and is the second most subscribed artist in the world.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s existing videos are increasing in views after the release of ROSÉ’s solo album ‘R’ on March 12. ROSÉ’s title track ‘On The Ground’ from her album topped iTunes Song charts in 51 countries, including the US, on the date of its release. The MV also surpassed 39M views in one day, becoming the most watched video on YouTube in 24 hours. The video is maintaining its top spot for 2 consecutive days.
