[일간스포츠=황지영 기자] BLACKPINK’s ‘Kill This Love’ MV surpassed 1.2B views on YouTube. It is BLACKPINK’s second video to reach 1.2B views.

According to YG Entertainment on February 9, BLACKPINK’s ‘Kill This Love’ MV surpassed 1.2B views on YouTube as of 12:38 AM. They set another new record in K-Pop group history. Their other mega-hit song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ has also previously reached 1.2B views, and is currently heading towards 1.5B views.

According to the agency, the ‘Kill This Love’ MV is closely chasing the view record set by ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’. It has reached 1.2B views about 67 days faster than ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’.

‘Kill This Love’, released back in April 2019, is a song maximizing BLACKPINK’s girl-cush charms with its fierce lead brass and epic drum sounds. The catchy point moves of firing a rifle captivated the global music fans, making the song popular even until this date. The song entered the US Billboard 200 and Hot 100 as no. 24 and no. 41 respectively, setting the best K-Pop girl group record at the time. The song was also ranked at no. 1 on the US iTunes Song Chart for the first time as a K-Pop girl group, revealing BLACKPINK’s presence in the major Pop music industry.

BLACKPINK then not only collaborated with global Pop stars such as Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez, but also broadened their musical spectrum by releasing their official debut album, which allowed them to grow as a global girl group.
