[서울경제=안정은 기자] Group BLACKPINK added another ‘first-ever K-Pop girl group’ record on Spotify, the world’s biggest music streaming platform.
On April 8(KST), YG Entertainment revealed that BLACKPINK’s ‘Kill This Love’ has surpassed 300M streams on Spotify. The number was achieved in approximately a year after the song was released last year on April and is the first-ever record set by a K-Pop girl group.
Putting in mind that Spotify’s influence and role in the global music market are gradually expanding, BLACKPINK’s new record has a great meaning.

Spotify has previously spotlighted the group last year by writing, ‘BLACKPINK, It’s been a big year’.
According to the ‘Spotify Wrapped 2019 Global K-Pop Top Lists’ at the time, BLACKPINK’s songs were streamed 1.1 billion times in 79 different countries that according year, achieving the best results among all K-Pop girl groups.
In addition to the number of streams, BLACKPINK has 11 million followers on Spotify, which is the highest number among all girl groups of the world. BLACKPINK is currently working hard on finalizing their new album.
