BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ MV Reaches 600M Views… Fastest Record in K-Pop History
[동아닷컴=전효진 기자] Group BLACKPINK set another fastest record in K-Pop history on YouTube with their MV for ‘How You Like That’.
According to YG Entertainment on the 22nd, the ‘How You Like That’ MV surpassed 600M views on YouTube as of 1 AM.
The record was achieved in approximately 117 days and 7 hours since its release on June 26. It shortens the previous record(177 days) held by BLACKPINK’s mega-hit song, ‘Kill This Love’, by almost 2 months.
‘How You Like That’ is replacing all records set by ‘Kill This Love’ at a fast pace. The ‘How You Like That’ MV surpassed 100M views on YouTube in approximately 32 hours, 200M views in 7 days, 300M views in 21 days, 400M views in 43 days, and 500M views in 73 days. They’ve been holding on to their upward trend for approximately 4 months and eventually became the fastest MV to surpass 600M views, proving the global music fans’ heated support.
The song ‘How You Like That’ is receiving the support of many global fans with its message of ‘Let’s rise despite any hardships or situations’, on top of its powerful beats.
The song received the ‘Song of the Summer’ award at the 2020 US MTV Video Music Awards and was selected as the ‘Global Top Summer Song’ by YouTube.
The popularity of ‘How You Like That’ was also proven through major charts representing the Pop industry. ‘How You Like That’ was ranked at no. 20 and at no. 33 on the UK Official Singles Top 100 and the US Billboard Hot 100 respectively on the week of its release, setting the best K-Pop girl group record at the time. The song also proved the group’s global popularity by being ranked at no. 1 on iTunes charts in 64 countries, as well as being ranked at no. 2 on the Spotify Global Top 50 chart.
BLACKPINK has a total of 22 videos with over 100M views. Their MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 1.3B views, while ‘Kill This Love’ and ‘BOOMBAYAH’ have also surpassed 1B views. BLACKPINK is the only artist in K-Pop to have 3 MVs with over 1B views.
BLACKPINK has recently announced their debut album ‘THE ALBUM’ in 4 years after making debut and dominated various global charts. ‘THE ALBUM’ was ranked at no. 1 on iTunes Album charts in 57 countries including the US. Furthermore, the album rewrote K-Pop girl group history by being ranked at no. 2 on both the US Billboard 200 and UK’s Official Albums chart.
