BLACKPINK Decorates New York Times Square→Billboards All Over the World…”Raises Status of K-Pop”

[OSEN=지민경 기자] BLACKPINK created a sensation on multiple global charts with their official debut album, and will now dominate billboards of major cities worldwide. It is because their Netflix original documentary ‘BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky’ will premiere on the 14th.

According to YG Entertainment and Netflix on October 12, the advertisement for ‘BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky’ decorated Times Square, New York. The advertisement shows the four members in large scale, and will spread out to LA, Paris, Tokyo, Jakarta, and more.

It is the first time that a K-Pop documentary by Netflix has been located in Times Square, New York as a billboard advertisement. Netflix has posted large-scale billboard advertisements on globally popular original series including ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Money Heist’. ‘Kingdom’ season 2 was the only Korean series that was posted as a billboard advertisement, but the series was already popular among global fans. One can realize BLACKPINK’s status as the first-ever K-Pop artist group to be covered by a Netflix original documentary.

‘BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky’ covers BLACKPINK’s past 4 years ever since they’ve made debut back in 2016. The documentary will spotlight their growth from trainees to global stars, in addition to their accommodation life and behind-the-scenes and stories of their live performances.
