Surpasses 50M Subscribers… BLACKPINK, Only Justin Bieber Left?
[스포츠월드=김재원 기자] Group BLACKPINK has surpassed 50M YouTube channel subscribers. It is a mile stone set not only as a K-Pop artist but is the first record set in YouTube Korea.
According to YG Entertainment on October 5, BLACKPINK has now over 50M subscribers on YouTube.
They are the second most subscribed artist in the world. The only artist with more subscribers than BLACKPINK is Pop star Justin Bieber from Canada, who made debut 10 years ago back in 2009 and reached 50M subscribers.
After making debut on August 2016, BLACKPINK gathered 50M YouTube channel subscribers in 4 years. They entered the US Pop market last year and successfully held a world tour, showing their strong presence.
Every time they released new songs, millions of new YouTube subscribers joined. BLACKPINK has gathered 10M YouTube channel subscribers for the past 3 months through pre-release singles ‘How You Like That’ and ‘Ice Cream’, in addition to their latest title track ‘Lovesick Girls’.
BLACKPINK has a total aggregated view of 12.6B. They have 21 videos with over 100M views including their debut song ‘BOOMBAYAH’ and ‘WHISTLE’, in addition to ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ which recently surpassed 1.3B views.
Their existing hits are also rapidly collecting views at a faster pace. In fact, the MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ which was released back in 2018 took 4 months to reach 1.1B from 1B, 3 months to reach 1.2B from 1.1B, and 2 months to reach 1.3B from 1.2B.
Meanwhile, physical copies of BLACKPINK’s ‘THE ALBUM’ will be officially released on the 6th. Since the current album pre-order volume exceeds 1M, they are expected to set the first, best, and biggest record in K-Pop girl group history.
