[헤럴드POP=정혜연 기자] YG Entertainment’s new headquarters has finally been completely constructed in 8 years, while on September 23, the agency has revealed that facilities and human resources have begun moving in since the 16th.

YG’s new headquarters, located in Mapo-gu, Seoul, is located right next to YG’s previous headquarters. It is a nine-story building with five additional underground floors, with a total floor area of 3145㎡. The area is 10 times bigger than the agency’s previous headquarters.

YG Entertainment has been purchasing land nearby for four years since 2012 in order to build their new headquarters. The construction began in 2016, and the new building has now been completed after four years.

YG Entertainment explained, “We could’ve purchased a building already completed in construction which would’ve been easier, but since we produce and manage music, we considered the facts that we should not disturb local residents and businesses. We needed complete soundproof within floors and rooms, which required a high floor height. We had to calculate these numbers thoroughly before we began the actual construction”.

The previous headquarters, used for the last 10 years, is planned to be connected with the new headquarters through a ground connection bridge.

YG’s new headquarters has a duplex auditorium, 7 large dance practice rooms, 7 large recording studios, and 30 individual workrooms for composers and artists.

Furthermore, YG’s cafeteria, which became famous through many TV shows, will be located in the second floor as a modern dining zone and will use the entire floor. The basement floors will include a gym and recreational facilities for the welfare of employees and agency artists.

Related officials of YG stated, “It had been 10 years since we moved in to the previous headquarters. Our business areas and headcount expanded greatly since then, so we had been renting out and utilizing buildings nearby. When all dispersed departments gather at the new headquarters by the end of the year, we expect our work efficiency to improve even further.”

YG also grabbed the people’s attention by preparing not only recreational facilities for the employees, but also for the fans. They’ve rented out a small, newly built building on the opposite side of the new headquarters and plan to turn it into a space including rest areas, an exhibition space, and other recreational facilities for the fans.

Related officials of YG stated, “There have been many fans from overseas visiting the headquarters to see artists, even from a far distance. The problem was that we were worried, because they were standing on the streets during the cold winter and the hot summer. There were limitations in providing facilities such as bathrooms, so we felt very apologetic”.

They’ve added, “While preparing our new headquarters, we’ve thought that we should create an indoor area for fans. We are very happy that we can now allow the fans to enjoy indoor facilities without dealing with the cold and the heat outside, since we decorated a space in a building right across the street where the fans can see the new headquarters in one view”.

YG Entertainment will face their 25th foundation anniversary. YG, the agency which produced numerous artists, currently manages BIGBANG, BLACKPINK, WINNER, iKON, AKMU, TREAUSRE, and numerous actors and actresses.

In the end, YG stated, “We will contribute to enhancing the position of K-pop in the global market by raising new artists at our new headquarters, fully equipped with cutting edge facilities.”
