BLACKPINK’s ‘HYLT’ Dance Performance Video Hits 300M Views… Fastest Record in K-Pop
[스포츠조선=백지은 기자] BLACKPINK is gathering ‘100 millions’ of views on YouTube not only through MVs, but also through dance performance videos.
According to YG Entertainment on September 21, the ‘How You Like That’ dance performance video surpassed 300M views on YouTube as of 5:30 AM.
The record was achieved in approximately 76 days and 20 hours since its release on July 6. While none other can compare to the record other than BLACKPINK’s mega-hit song ‘DDU-DU DD-DU’, the video became the fastest K-Pop dance practice video to hit 300M views. Furthermore, BLACKPINK became the only K-Pop group to hold 2 dance performance videos with over 300M views.
BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ dance performance video hit 100M views in 15 days and 21 hours, and 200M views in 45 days and 4 hours. Considering that it took them a month since the video reached 300M views from 200M views, one can realize that the increase pace in views stayed consistent although its been over 2 months since the song was released.
The rapid view count increase of official MVs are amazing, but hundreds of millions of views racking up on dance performance videos make the people realize BLACKPINK’s steady global popularity.
The song ‘How You Like That’, released on June 26, not only achieved a ‘perfect all-kill’ on major Korean music charts but also achieved remarkable success on overseas charts. The song was ranked at no. 20 and at no. 33 on the UK Official Singles Top 100 and on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as being ranked at no. 1 on iTunes charts in 64 countries and being ranked at no. 2 on the Spotify Global Top 50 chart, proving the group’s global presence.
Its MV surpassed 86.3M views on the first day, reached 100M views in 32 hours, 200M views in 7 days, 300M views in 21 days, 400M views in 43 days, and 500M views in 73 days, setting milestones in K-Pop girl group history.
The song was also awarded the ‘Song of The Summer’ award at the 2020 US MTV Video Music Awards, as well as being selected as the ‘Global Top Summer Song’ by YouTube.
BLACKPINK has hit the global music market by releasing new songs consecutively this year. After the release of ‘How You Like That’, the song ‘Ice Cream’ with Selena Gomez was ranked at no. 13 on the ‘Hot 100’, which is US Billboard’s main singles chart, setting a new K-Pop girl group record without local promotional activities.
BLACKPINK will release their first official debut album titled ‘THE ALBUM’ on October 2, being released in 4 years since the group has made debut. Their Netflix original documentary titled ‘BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky’ is also scheduled to premiere on the same month on the 14th.
