“Open You Mind” TREASURE Presents Group Dance Moves Unseen in YG Releases Through ‘BOY’
[뉴스엔=황혜진 기자] Group TREASUR(CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, SO JUNG HWAN) made their first step into the global music market by releasing a song with fantastic group dance moves.
On August 7 at 6 PM, TREASURE released their debut single album ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ through global music platforms. The single album includes two tracks including ‘BOY’ and ‘COME TO ME’.
Like the title suggests, ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ symbolizes TREASURE’s first step towards the world as the 12 shining dots combine as one. TREASURE is planning to capture numerous first experiences the 12 members will go through together. Through the first chapter, they will express the emotions of a young boy who fell in love for the first time.
The title song ‘BOY’ has impressing synthesizer sounds, strong bass, drums, and a dance break drop which escalate the tension of the song. Along with the MV revealed with the song, TREASURE grabbed the people’s attention with their sharp group moves presenting their ‘teen crush’ charms. It puts the people in awe since the sound and dance of the song are the fiercest among all debut songs released by artists in YG Entertainment history.
The song was composed by talented producers of The Black Label including R.Tee, Se.A, CHOICE37, and HAE. CHOI HYUN SUK and HARUTO revealed their individual characters by participating in the rap making.
The lyrics state a naïve boy’s thoughts as he cannot control himself due to an attraction, which he feels for the first time, and his will as he rushes towards her without hesitation. TREASURE presented charming vocals and rap through the lyrics which state, ‘Like it was destiny yeah/I only see you among all these people/I can make you happy/It needs to be you girl/Open your mind/I just wanna be your boy/I’ll be your boy/Open your mind/Be my be my be my girl/I’ll be your boy/Be my be my be my/I just wanna be your boy’.
The song ‘COME TO ME’ contains TREASURE’s bright and lovely charms which contrast with the song ‘BOY’. TREASURE sings about a boy throwing love bombs to change her mind, who feels sulky with a fresh melody composed of synth sounds. The message reminds the listeners of a conversation between lovers, telling each other to come back, which makes the listeners feel empathy.
TREASURE is a team formed through YG Entertainment’s survival program ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ aired from November 2018 until January 2019 and is YG’s major rookie group being announced in 4 years since BLACKPINK. They are also YG’s next-generation boy group making debut in 5 years since BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON.
The group has prepared for their debut under the full-hearted support from the agency, as they target the global music industry. They lived up to the expectations by becoming the fastest K-Pop rookie group to enter the Billboard ‘Social 50’ chart and successfully charting in for 6 consecutive weeks. They also entered Billboard’s ‘Emerging Artists’ chart for 2 consecutive weeks, reached 170 thousand physical album pre-orders, and surpassed 1.38M YouTube channel subscribers.
The people are paying keen attention on what kind of success they will achieve through their debut single album. They will perform their title song for the first time on SBS ‘Inkigayo’ on the 9th.
