BLACKPINK Gained 1.1 Billion Streams on Spotify… Best Record Among All K-Pop Girl Groups

[스포츠서울=김선우기자] BLACKPINK proved themselves as the best K-Pop girl group on the year-end statement of Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.

According to the ‘Spotify Wrapped 2019 Global K-Pop Top Lists’ announced on the 5th(local time), BLACKPINK was ranked at no. 2 on the ‘Most Streamed K-Pop Artists’ list, which was the best record among all girl groups of K-Pop.

In addition, the song ‘Kill This Love’ was ranked at no. 2 on the ‘Most Streamed K-Pop Tracks’ list, while ‘Kiss and Make Up’, ‘SOLO’, and ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ were ranked at no. 3, 4, and 5, respectively.

Spotify spotlighted BLACKPINK’s 2019 record by writing, ‘BLACKPINK, it’s been a big year’.

The records showed that BLACKPINK’s songs were streamed 1.1 billion times on Spotify for a total of 56.9 million hours. Music fans of 79 countries played and enjoyed listening to BLACKPINK’s songs.

For the past year, BLACKPINK’s ‘Kill This Love’ was streamed 233 million times, ‘Kiss and Make Up’ was streamed 172.1 million times, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ was streamed 189 million times, and ‘Don’t Know What To Do’ was streamed 68.5 million times. On April 5th at 2 PM, the day ‘Kill This Love’ was released, the number of streams accumulated were 655,350.

Spotify also pointed out BLACKPINK’s growth in musical awareness compared to last year. Their total listeners increased by 194%, number of streams increased by 169%, number of playlist additions increased by 168%, number of followers increased by 152%, while new listener inflow also increased by 97%.

BLACKPINK, who received a lot of global support this year, is working hard with the goal of releasing a new album in 2020. Furthermore, after successfully completing their concert held in Tokyo Dome on the 4th, they will continue their dome tour by holding concerts in Osaka Kyocera Dome next year on January 4th and on the 5th and in Fukuoka Yafuoku!
